On March 27, 1915, a group of local officials came together to establish an institution of higher education in Cookeville. The university that means so much to Cookeville, the Upper Cumberland, 80,000 alumni and 10,500 currently enrolled students is 108 years old today.

The Graduate Chemistry Club (GCC) will be holding a bake sale in the south atrium of the Laboratory Science Commons on Thursday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a variety of baked goods available and we accept cash and card. Funds raised go toward helping support registration expenses for graduate students to present their research at national conferences. Tennessee Tech AIChE is hosting a fundraiser night at the Interstate Drive Chipotle on Wednesday, March 1st from 5 – 9 p.m. A portion of the night’s proceeds will be donated to the chapter to cover costs for our attendance AIChE Southern Regional Student Conference in Gainesville, Florida. Tennessee Tech’s 5th annual I Heart Tech Students fundraising initiative kicked off yesterday!

Each year, the Golden Eagle community comes together to provide support for programs that put students first, and faculty and staff gifts make a huge impact! Thanks to the funds raised in previous I Heart Tech Students initiatives, the Food Pantry expanded their hours and purchased a new refrigerator to provide healthy options for students who face food insecurity. The Veterans Center purchased new computers for student veterans. And faculty and staff were instrumental in establishing the Eagle Assistance Grant, which provides emergency funds for students in need. When Tech experienced one of the toughest years in history in 2020, students had the support and emergency aid they needed, thanks to you.

A gift of any amount to any area on campus between Feb. 14 and March 27 counts in the I Heart Tech Students total. The amount of the gift isn’t as important as simply the act of giving.

You can purchase our love potions (plastic test tubes filled with M&Ms) from our Square Store today, Feb. 6, and we’ll deliver them to a campus office (for faculty and staff) or mailbox (for students) on Monday, Feb 13. Individual love potions are $2 or you can buy 3 for $5. You will be contacted via email after you order to determine the delivery location. We can even add a short note to the tag for you! Thank you to everyone who made a gift to Tennessee Tech in Giving Tuesday! We know you have a lot of choices of where, when and how to share your philanthropy, and we are honored that you chose Tech.

During the holiday season, it’s important to remember those who paved the way for others, and that’s what this year’s Giving Tuesday was all about. On Nov. 29, we honored the professors, administrators, coaches, benefactors and friends of Tech who made this university what it is today. And we thank you for keeping their memories alive and providing support so the next generation of Golden Eagles can experience a university made possible (and wonderful!) by Tennessee Tech legacies.

We will be having a Books and PJs Drive for the Snug as a Bug Foundation on December 3rd, 2022, from 8:00 am- 12:00 noon in front of Bartoo Hall. Donate any NEW books or pajamas to children who are admitted to the hospital unexpectedly over the holidays. All book levels and all children’s sizes are needed. If you would like to donate holiday books and sleepwear, that would be greatly appreciated, but we also need regular, everyday items as well!
