  • I Heart Tech Students’ impact on the Eagle Assistance Grant

I Heart Tech Students’ impact on the Eagle Assistance Grant

Two weeks down, and four weeks to go in our 6th annual I Heart Tech Students fundraising initiative! Thank you to everyone who has made a gift so far!

One of the most popular areas for support is the Eagle Assistance Grant, an emergency fund for students facing tough times. The EAG was established during the very first I Heart Tech Students in 2019. Thanks to your support throughout the past six years, the EAG has helped more than 80 students with more than $70,000 in emergency expenses.

  • I Heart Tech Students’ impact on Tennessee Tech’s Veterans Center

I Heart Tech Students’ impact on Tennessee Tech’s Veterans Center

Thank you to all of the faculty and staff who have supported I Heart Tech Students so far! This annual six-week fundraising initiative began in 2019. That first year, we focused on three programs that put students first, and one area is the Eagle’s Wing Veterans Center. Thanks to donor support, Tech was named a “Best for Vets” university by Military Times, joining a select list of only 325 universities nationwide. Tech is recognized for its work-study opportunities, priority registration for student veterans and the range of services offered by its dedicated Office of Military & Veteran Affairs. This is just one example of how your gifts make a difference.

  • Nursing Faculty Facilitates Critical Care Training in Belize

Nursing Faculty Facilitates Critical Care Training in Belize

Last December, Prof. Melissa Geist and Assoc. Prof. Jennifer Mabry led a group of grad and undergrad students on a nursing outreach visit to the village of Punta Gorda, Belize in Central America. The group partnered with START CPR to provide Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training for 20 doctors and nurses – now certified by the American Heart Association for adult critical care.

In March, Geist’s team plans to return to facilitate the Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support (PALS) training and certification for the healthcare providers.

To help support this pediatric critical care outreach initiative, please email Professor Geist at behealthy@tntech.edu for more information.

  • It’s the season of giving!

    It’s the season of giving!

Each holiday season, Tennessee Tech looks for ways to help others — both on campus and in the community. That’s why we are encouraging those interested in making an end-of-the-year gift to consider making a gift to the University Service Center.

The Center provides service learning opportunities that integrate community service with instruction and reflection. Service projects range from stuffing backpacks full of school supplies for K-12 students in need to ensuring that Tech’s food pantry is stocked and staffed for those experiencing food insecurity.

If you make a gift of $25 or more to any campus fund between now and Dec. 15, as a thank you, we will send you a Tennessee Tech ornament.

Thank you for making this year’s Giving Tuesday the most successful to date!

Thank you to everyone who made a gift on Giving Tuesday! We had the most successful Giving Tuesday to date, with nearly 200 gifts made in a 24-hour period.

This year, Tech chose to focus on raising funds for The Oracle student newspaper to honor nearly 100 years of campus news, free speech and experiential learning. On April 24, 2024, The Oracle will turn 100. Thank you for ensuring that this important campus tradition can continue.

    Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday!

On this day of giving, Tennessee Tech will highlight a campus tradition that has promoted free speech, shared campus news, provided experiential learning opportunities and served as a written record of university history for nearly 100 years.

On April 24, The Oracle newspaper will turn 100. And on Nov. 28, we will ensure it has the funding needed to thrive for another 100 years.

If you give $24 tomorrow (to honor 100 years of The Oracle, from 1924 to 2024), you will receive a special 100-year anniversary tumbler featuring the original Tech Oracle masthead!
