Apply NOW for up to $20,000 in Grant Funding
The Rural Reimagined Faculty Grant Program offers TN Tech faculty members the opportunity to secure up to $20,000 in research funding to address rural challenges. All academic disciplines are encouraged to submit a proposal. The application window is currently open now through Friday, September 26, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. CST.

Condensed and Shorter Research Security CITI Training Course Now Available
A new condensed, one-hour research security module, called “Research Security (Combined)” is now available via CITI Program. This course satisfies research security training requirements for covered individuals (faculty, staff, and students whose R&D activities are funded by federal or state awards) and may be taken in lieu of the four-module “Research Security Training” CITI course. Those who have taken “Research Security Training” do not need to take the condensed course as well. For more information, please visit the Research Compliance Training Website.

Tech professor awarded Wildlife Conservationist of the Year Award
Dr. Bradley Cohen, Associate Professor of Wildlife Ecology in the Biology Department, has been honored with the Wildlife Conservationist of the Year Award by the Tennessee Wildlife Federation, which celebrated its 60th Annual Conservation Achievement Awards. Driven by a passion for using science to inform wildlife management, Dr. Cohen’s work is impacting waterfowl, deer, and turkey populations across the state. His research has led to better management of wildlife refuges, updated wildlife monitoring protocols, and adaptive harvest models that guide regulations for white-tailed deer and turkey in Tennessee.

Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar
This Friday’s seminar will feature the work of Atlas Mannen (TTU Physics): InSTAR Double Star Astrometry, Jack Seger (TTU Physics and Mathematics): Simulation of a RFQ beam cooler for the TTU ion beam lab, and Nikolas Vassilev (TTU Chemical Engineering and Chemistry): Behavior of 3D printed plastics in high vacuum. Abstracts for the presentations can be found here. The seminar will be at 4pm in Bruner Hall 210 with snacks served starting at 3:30pm. These seminars are geared for undergraduates from any STEM major, but graduate students and faculty are encouraged to attend!

Join us at the 2nd annual Faculty Innovator Showcase on April 23
Faculty, staff and the public are invited to attend the Office of Research and Economic Development’s 2nd annual Faculty Innovator Showcase, held on Wednesday, April 23 from 10 a.m. to Noon in Memorial Gym.
This exciting event highlights cutting-edge faculty research and innovation while providing attendees with a unique opportunity to explore groundbreaking work in science, technology, engineering and more. A tradeshow-style showcase will take place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by faculty presentations from 11 a.m. to noon. Register for this free event here.

Vandyck Adade-Yeboah Wins Poster Award at National Conference
Congratulations to Exceptional Learning PhD candidate Vandyck Adade-Yeboah on being selected as the Association of Professional Behavior Analysts (APBA) 2025 Convention poster session award winner. Vandyck is a Ghana native who is passionate about researching needs in his home country. He and his advisor, Dr. Krystal Kennedy, have been working with professionals and parents in Ghana over the past two years to research and address behavioral needs in school-aged populations. Vandyck is currently working on his dissertation in the same area and plans to continue working with his native community.

Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar: Phil Roberson, TTU Earth Sciences
This Friday Phil Roberson from the TTU Earth Sciences department will be giving the Undergraduate seminar. In his talk Facies Models in the Geologic Record, Phil will describe a key framework for organizing the physical, biological, and chemical properties of sedimentary rock that, among other things, provides a way to understand an increasingly diverse set of new environments using past observations. The seminar will be at 4pm in Bruner Hall 210 with snacks served starting at 3:30pm. This Friday we will be visited by Dr. Andi Pina from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Dr. Pina’s field is Physics Education Research, and because of the rapidly increasing prevalence of quantum technologies in science and society, Dr. Pina has a particular interest in quantum information science and engineering (QISE) education. Dr. Pina will describe how educational practices related to QISE are evolving in their talk The Landscape of Quantum Information Science and Engineering Education and the role of Physics Departments. The seminar will be at 4pm in Bruner Hall 210 with snacks served starting at 3:30pm.
