This week’s Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar will feature work from Physics major Luke Parsons. In his talk Data Analysis of Neutron Capture on 134Xe, Luke will describe his work analyzing gamma ray spectra that provide important information needed to eliminate backgrounds in very sensitive experiments designed to better understand a fundamental particle called the neutrino. Luke will also talk about how germanium detectors, like those used to collect his data, are made and characterized. The seminar will be this Friday at 4pm in Bruner Hall 210. (Snacks will be served starting at 3:30pm.) These seminars are geared for undergraduates from any STEM major, but graduate students and faculty are encouraged to attend!

In his talk Nitrogen Vacancy Optically-Detected Magnetometry for Characterization of Systematic Effects in Precision Ultracold Neutron Experiments, Luke will describe his work over the summer building a magnetic field measurement device using a solid state quantum system. The seminar will be this Friday at 4pm in Bruner Hall 210. (Snacks will be served starting at 3:30pm.) These seminars are geared for undergraduates from any STEM major, but graduate students and faculty are encouraged to attend!

In his talk Beam Chamber Construction and Generator Shaft Alignment, Physics major Caleb Eldridge will describe his work developing TTU’s ion beam lab over the summer. Computer Science and Physics major Imran Mohammed will then present his investigation of 3D printing for vacuum applications in his talk Vacuum Compatibility of 3D Printer Materials. The seminar will be this Friday at 4pm in Bruner Hall 210. (Snacks will be served starting at 3:30pm.) These seminars are geared for undergraduates from any STEM major, but graduate students and faculty are also encouraged to attend!

The following researcher in university administration has been inducted into the 2021-2022 Wings Up 100.
The 2021-2022 Wings Up 100 roster is an elite group of 36 Tech researchers who brought in at least $100,000 in external funding for their research and activities during 2021-2022.
Congratulations to these researchers who helped Tech set a new high in external funding.
