    Open Water Swim Event

    The Tennessee Tech Swim Club is hosting an open water swim event on Saturday, September 23 at 10:45 am at Floating Mill Park on Center Hill Lake. Triathletes, competitive swimmers or any strong swimmers interested are encouraged to join us for it. There will be lifeguards and kayakers serving as safety lookouts throughout the swim. We will have a cookout at the park after the swim for those that attend.  Please contact Brad Westrick at bwestrick@tntech.edu for anyone interested in swimming or kayaking and for further information.

    Do you know a student deserving recognition? The Division of Student Affairs is requesting nominations for the Student Affairs Student Spotlight. This project aims to highlight Golden Eagles students who excel both in and outside the classroom. Selected students will be featured in a Tech Times article and a Student Affairs Instagram post.     Chess Table Dedication Ceremony

    Join us as we dedicate the chess table in front of Henderson Hall to Professor Emeritus and former Dean Paul Semmes this Thursday, September 21, 11 a.m. on Centennial Plaza in front of Henderson Hall.

     Dr. Semmes was a physics faculty member for 33 years, Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences for 6 years and Dean of the College for 14 years. In addition, Dr. Semmes was faculty leader of Tennessee Tech’s chess club for 28 years and is still an avid player.

    Come out this Thursday to celebrate Dean Semmes, play chess and enjoy a treat! Tennessee Tech’s Chess Club will join to play chess and celebrate.

    The College of Arts and Sciences, in celebration of this year’s Stonecipher Lecture, will host the University of Pennsylvania’s Adelheid Voskuhl for a lecture at 6 p.m. on Monday, September 25th, in Stonecipher Lecture Hall 113. The topic of the event, which is free and open to the public, is “Engineers and the World They Made: Machines, Policies – and Social Status in the Industrial Boom.”

    Personalized Learning – Data Driven Decisions

    Join the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning for our next workshop on Tuesday, September 19th at 11 AM. Personalized learning is an approach to education that tailors instruction to students’ needs. In this session, we will discuss the importance of data-driven decisions and provide information about Small Group Instructional Diagnostics. SGID’s are a simple and straightforward evaluation process that uses structured small group discussions among students to provide confidential feedback to an instructor, generally around the midpoint of a term.   • Minecraft Server of Tennessee Tech

    Minecraft Server of Tennessee Tech

    We are a group of Tennessee Tech students joined under a common interest of playing Minecraft. The server IP is ttumc.tech, but the server is whitelisted so you need to join our Discord at discord.ttumc.tech

    (Note: if you join from the internet in the RUC or residential halls you can bypass the whitelist but it is still recommended to get whitelisted)

    The server also supports Bedrock Edition cross-play! To join on Bedrock Edition use IP: bedrock.ttumc.tech Port: 25566. You will still need to get whitelisted so please join our Discord.

    The server runs on a plugin that is coded by Tennessee Tech students and the server supports both Bedrock and Java Edition cross-play. The game mode is survival multiplayer or SMP and we do not allow griefing or theft. Feel free to join the Discord or email us at tntechmcserver@gmail.com to get verified and play on the server with other students.

    Course Mapping & Alignment

    Join the Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning (CITL) at 11 AM on Tuesday, September 12th for a Course Mapping & Alignment workshop.  Aligned courses ensure students’ knowledge and skills are measured according to established learning objectives. In this workshop, we will discuss the benefits of creating and reviewing both course-level and module-level learning objectives.
