    CSW Excellence Award is presented annually to an individual employed by Tennessee Tech who has contributed significantly to gender equity. It honors three qualities characterizing the tradition of women’s leadership at Tech: perseverance, generosity, mentorship.

  • CPR Classes at the Burn!

    CPR Classes at the Burn!

    Campus Recreation is happy to announce that Heartsaver CPR/AED classes are now available at the Marc. L. Burnett Student Recreation and Fitness Center. Learn how to provide CPR to infants, children, and adults. You will also be trained in the use of the Automated External Defibrillators (AED). Successful completion of this class will result in you being certified in Heartsaver CPR/AED by the American Heart Association. This class is meant to prepare you to deal with cardiac emergencies until professional emergency medical service providers arrive at the scene. It is a 2-year certification. Classes are scheduled now for November and December, with the first class being on Tuesday, November 14th at 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Registration for classes is available online at Tennessee Tech Campus Recreation . The price per class is $50.00 per person. Please contact TTUFit@tntech.edu with any questions.

    Join the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) for our first Tech Tuesday in November. Faculty-Student Interactions (FSI) are important to student success, and yet students report they don’t know how to engage with faculty beyond course time. Some faculty are reconceptualizing office hours as a way to increase FSI. Join us at 11 AM on Tuesday, November 7th via Microsoft Teams as we explore some recent trends in FSI and explore the merits of experimenting with office hours.     Tennessee Tech Applies for “Best Places to Work”

    Tennessee Tech University is participating in an employee engagement and satisfaction survey managed by Best Companies Group. The survey will serve two objectives: 1) Use consolidated feedback to help identify and address issues and concerns to promote retention, and 2) Earn recognition as a “Best Place to Work” in Tennessee to enhance talent recruitment and interest in working at Tennessee Tech.

    As a part of the survey, 350 faculty and staff will be randomly selected by the Best Companies Group to complete their online workforce survey via email on Nov. 7. The survey should only take 10-15 minutes to complete, and your participation is appreciated. Please look for the survey coming from Surveys@BestCompaniesGroup.com to your Tech email account that will include a link to the online survey. THIS IS NOT SPAM OR PHISHING AND HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR DISTRIBUTION.

  • Art Inspired by Archives Contest

    Art Inspired by Archives Contest

    University Archives is announcing the first annual “Art Inspired by Archives” contest. This year we are highlighting Cosmouse, Tennessee Tech’s space traveling mouse. Winners will be selected by a committee composed of staff, faculty, and a student. First place winner will receive a $75 gift card and second place winner will receive a $25 gift card.

    All artwork must be received by November 10 and winners will be announced November 17. Artwork will be accepted by anyone 18 and over. Artwork will be evaluated on technique and composition, creativity and originality, and adherence to the competition theme. Select artworks to be featured in an exhibit at Volpe.

  • Student Members of American Chemical Society Chapter Wins Top Awards

    Student Members of American Chemical Society Chapter Wins Top Awards

    The Tennessee Tech Chapter of the Student Members of the American Chemical Society (SMACS) recently received awards from the ACS Society Committee on Education (SOCED) for the 2022-2023 academic year for the chapter’s programs and activities as described in their chapter report. The Tennessee Tech SMACS Chapter received both Outstanding and Green Chemistry Awards from SOCED. For the 2022-2023 academic year, SOCED awarded 71 chapters outstanding, 122 chapters commendable, and 135 chapters honorable mention. In addition, 21 student chapters also received a green chemistry award for successfully completing at least three green chemistry activities throughout the year. This continues the tradition of the Tennessee Tech SMACS Chapter being one of the most active and highest ranked ACS Student Chapters in the world. For more information email smacsttu@gmail.com.

    Enhancing Your Online Learning with YuJa Media

    Join the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) for a discussion on Tuesday, October 24th at 11 AM via Teams. During this workshop, participants will explore the benefits of embedding YuJa videos in online courses to engage students effectively. We will demonstrate how to add quizzes within your videos to assess comprehension and encourage active learning. We will also hear from faculty who have successfully integrated YuJa into their courses, gaining valuable insights and practical tips.
