    Spring 2024 Career Readiness applications are now ready and available! If your class touches on professionalism, career related topics, resume or job success in any way, consider utilizing the two career ready programs available. If you are making Career Readiness a part of your syllabi, please let us know by sending an email to rcoughenour@tntech.edu.

    Knowing when faculty are making career readiness part of their curriculum helps career development serve you and your students better. In some instances, we can even conduct in-class sessions that will count towards requirements. Please direct any questions to Russ Coughenour, rcoughenour@tntech.edu.

  • Math Emporium Tutors Needed for Spring 2024

    For Spring 2024, tutors are needed to assist MATH 1710, MATH 1720, and MATH 1910 students with their assignments and test reviews in the Math Emporium, Clement 313C. If you are interested and/or want to know more about this opportunity, please come by the Math Department office, Bruner 217, for more information or email MathDept@tntech.edu.

  • Submissions for Non-Instructional Faculty Assignments due Jan. 16

    Proposals from faculty seeking non-instructional faculty assignments for the 2023-2024 academic year are due to department chairs on Jan. 16, 2024.  The purpose of the non-instructional assignments are: to contribute to the professional growth of the faculty; to improve the teaching and the curriculum across the University; and/or to enhance the scholarship and academic excellence of the University in ways that cannot be accomplished under the constraints of the regular workload assignments. Proposals are due to Academic Affairs by January 26, 2024. The recipients will be announced on February 22, 2024.   • Building Closures for Holiday Break

    The University Police would like to remind everyone that all campus buildings will be secured on Thursday, December 21st at the end of business day until Tuesday, January 2nd when offices re-open from the Holiday break. Individuals needing access to the buildings during this time can contact University Police at 931-372-3234 and officers will be happy to assist.

    Those needing access will be required to present a photo ID to the Officers.

    Live Events! FAFSA Simplified Presentation and Q&A for Parents and Students

    There are some big changes coming to the 2024-2025 FAFSA, and the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships is here to help you be prepared. Students and parents are invited to join us for a virtual FAFSA Simplified presentation on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 5pm or Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 10am.     Important tasks to do prior to 2024-2025 FAFSA release

    1. Students and parents are highly encouraged to create their FSA IDs prior to the 2024-2025 FAFSA release. FSA IDs can be created at www.studentaid.gov.

    2.The Scholarship Application Deadline is December 15th! Students can complete this (before the FAFSA) by logging into Tech Express and using the ScholarWeb quick link.

     

  • SGA Shines at Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature (TISL)

    Tennessee Tech University’s Student Government Association (SGA) attended the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature (TISL), held at the Tennessee State Capitol in Nashville from November 16-20, 2023. Throughout the event, SGA members actively participated, embodying the roles of legislators and engaging in impactful discussions on crucial issues. Braxton Westbrook, Chief of Staff to the SGA President, was reelected as TISL’s Lieutenant Governor. Kelsey Hewitt, the Secretary of the First Year Assembly, received recognition as the Best Lobbying CEO. Another outstanding participant, Mariam Abbas, was honored as the Best Lobbyist in her firm. Claire Myers, SGA’s own Vice President, was awarded the prestigious Carlisle Award. The SGA’s achievements at TISL underscore its commitment to fostering leadership and representing the interests of Tennessee Tech’s student body on a broader stage.

    Submit Causes for I Heart Tech Students 2024!

    It’s time to submit causes for next year’s “I Heart Tech Students” initiative. Every year “I Heart Tech Students” raises funds for areas on campus that directly benefit students – scholarships, programs, and resources that enrich their college experience. Causes can be submitted for university colleges, departments, and programs.

    The 2024 “I Heart Tech Students” initiative will run from February 14 through March 27, 2024.
