    Meet the Tech Tomorrow faculty leaders: Holly Anthony, Innovation in All We Do

    Holly Anthony, professor of mathematics education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education, has been named the faculty leader for the Tech Tomorrow Innovation in All We Do goal.

    “Strategic planning is key to moving an institution towards a future that is imagined but not yet fulfilled,” Anthony said. “I am excited to be invited to play a role in that movement. I have seen a number of really good ideas come to fruition in my tenure at Tech and I have seen other really good ideas get lost in the daily grind. It is my hope to bring life to ideas that will put Tech at the forefront of innovation in academia.

    “Tech Tomorrow is a dynamic strategic plan that is powered by the people for whom it is most impactful: students, faculty, staff, and the university. It will be a privilege to meet with faculty and students, hear their ideas for innovation in all we do, and work to develop those ideas into initiatives and programs that guide us towards excellence.”

    The previous leader for this goal was Jason Beach, associate professor of curriculum and instruction in the College of Education.

  • Budget Office – April Training

    Budget Office training sessions for April are now scheduled if anyone is interested! Below is a brief description of each training:

    General Budget Training: This training gives a big picture overview of the university budget, Banner screens, and budget revisions. This training is required for signature authority on budget revisions.

    Budget Banner Screen Training: This training focuses specifically on the Banner screens frequently used for budgeting purposes. This is an optional training course.

    Budget Shadow System Training: This training focuses specifically on our Shadow System Template. This is an optional training course.

    Position Control Budget Training: This training focuses specifically on topics related to position control including new position set ups, personnel action forms, budget revisions for permanent positions, how to verify permanent position funding, lapsed salary, etc. This is an optional training course.

    Meet the Tech Tomorrow faculty leaders: Jeremy Blair, Engagement for Impact

    Jeremy Blair, assistant professor of art education in the School of Art, Craft and Design, has been named the faculty leader for the Tech Tomorrow Engagement for Impact goal.

    “I am so excited to serve on the Tech Tomorrow Strategic Planning team,” Blair said. “As the new faculty lead for Engagement for Impact, I look forward to fostering innovative partnerships, developing engaging programs, and building bridges across campus that empower our students and university.

    “Tech Tomorrow provides a unique opportunity for me to collaborate across disciplines, explore new directions and infrastructures, and dream without boundaries. Speaking with today’s students and faculty inspires me to serve Tech Tomorrow creatively and reimagine the future of Tennessee Tech.”

    He served on the previous Innovation in All We Do working group, as well as on the Rural Reimagined Grand Challenge committee.

    The previous leader for this goal was Bedelia Russell, associate professor of nursing instruction in the Whitson-Hester School of Nursing.

    Call for EDGE QEP course grant applications!

    EDGE: Enhanced Discovery through Guided Exploration is TTU’s Quality Enhancement Plan. The EDGE Creative Inquiry Course Grant Program offers Faculty the opportunity to redesign undergraduate or graduate courses to include creative inquiry projects and assignments. In addition, the EDGE rubric is now an optional method of assessing student work – faculty may propose another method for assessment. The limit on individual course grants is $5,000. The limit on multiple-course curriculum grants is $15,000. April 8 is the application deadline.

  • Microsoft MFA Rollout Continuing

    Microsoft MFA Rollout Continuing

    Back in January, ITS informed all campus users that Tennessee Tech had selected Microsoft to replace IDME as our Multi-Factor Authentication and Self-Service Password Reset system. Part of this transition required all users to register in the new system. For those who haven’t completed the registration process, we have enabled a guided experience that will display when you begin accessing Tennessee Tech web-based applications. Please follow the steps outlined in the new Microsoft system to complete registration. While the work for migrating users is completing, the application migration into our new Microsoft system is continuing. As a result, you will start to see a different experience when logging in to some applications, which may include additional prompts for your email address until the migration has completed.

  • Nominations Being Accepted for Outstanding Staff Awards

    Nominations are currently being accepted for the Outstanding Clerical & Support Staff Awards and the Outstanding Professional Award.  Awards are based on job performance, attitude toward University constituencies, commitment and service to the University, professional development and suggestions for program improvements.  Nominations can be made by any member of the Tennessee Tech community (faculty, staff and students).  Please visit our Employee Recognition page for more information and to make a nomination.  The deadline for nominations is March 24, 2022.

    2021 1095C Availability

    Electronic 1095Cs are now available online

    Review your Electronic 1095C –  First log into TechExpress (https://express.tntech.edu).  Select “Eagle” button from the Quicklinks area. This will take you to Eagle Online.  Select the Employee tab, and your 1095C is located under Tax Forms.

    Paper 1095Cs were mailed March 1st for employees who did not consent to receiving the electronic version. Employees who wish to receive 1095Cs electronically in the future can select Electronic Regulatory Consent in Tech Express under Tax Forms. We encourage employees to select Electronic Regulatory Consent as it reduces the risk of others obtaining your personal information through mail theft.

  • Cyber Threats – Shields Up!

    With geopolitical tensions increasing, the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has issued a bulletin recommending all organizations to be especially vigilant during this time. Cyber threats are a common component in multi-front attacks, and universities are equally at risk of being the focus for one of these attacks. https://www.cisa.gov/shields-up

    What can you do to help?

    • Keep an eye out for any unexpected or unusual network behavior.
    • Make sure any personal devices are current on their OS and app updates.
    • Scrutinize all emails from senders you do not recognize. (Over 90% of cyber attacks begin with an email.)
    • Report suspicious emails with the Phish Alert button in Outlook (or by forwarding it to abuse@tntech.edu).
