  • Terracon Foundation establishes STEAM scholarships to support diversity

    Terracon Foundation establishes STEAM scholarships to support diversity

    The Terracon Foundation recently announced a grant for Tennessee Tech to support students pursuing a degree in one of the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) fields. This grant will be used to establish the Terracon Foundation Annual STEAM Scholarship for Diversity and Inclusion and will be awarded to students representing diverse populations.

    The Terracon Scholarship awards one scholarship to each ethnic population represented at Tech: American Indian/Alaskan Native, Asian, Black/African American, Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander, Hispanic and White.

  • Budget Office – August Training Sessions

    Budget Office training sessions for August have been scheduled if anyone is interested! Below is a brief description of each training:

      • General Budget Training: This training gives a big picture overview of the university budget, Banner screens, and budget revisions. This training is required for signature authority on budget revisions.
        • Budget Banner Screen Training: This training focuses specifically on the Banner screens frequently used for budgeting purposes. This is an optional training course.
    • Budget Shadow System Training: This training focuses specifically on our Shadow System Template. This is an optional training course.

    Food Pantry Schedule – August 2021

    Thanks to 2 amazing summer volunteers (from the Food, Nutrition and Dietetics Program), the main campus food pantry, located in Tech Village, will remain open for the month of August.

    See important dates below:

    August 1 – 29, 2021: Open on Wednesday from 11am – 5pm

    August 30 – December 8, 2021: Regular Pantry Hours, Monday – Thursday, 8am – 5pm (excluding campus breaks and holidays)

    ***REMEMBER: We always have the auxiliary pantry available to you in the library at the front desk, during library hours

    ***NEW: As of July 16, 2021, the pantry has an outside pantry box for anyone who may find themselves in a hunger-related situation at a time neither pantry is open.  It is stocked with pop-top foods, easily accessible and eat on-the-go items, including plastic-ware.  This is a Butterfly Blessings Box (a new, local nonprofit).

  • Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences

    After serving as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences for 14 years and as a faculty of Tennessee Tech for 33 years, Dr. Paul Semmes is retiring in September. Through his teaching and research in physics and his servant approach to leadership as Dean, the positive impact of Dean Semmes’ service is deep and lasting.

    Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences will be Dr. Jeff Roberts. Dr. Roberts has served as Chair of the Department of History for 19 years and a faculty member at Tennessee Tech for 30 years. He has also served as Faculty Athletics Representative for 15 years. To facilitate a smooth transition in the Dean’s office, Dr. Roberts’ interim appointment will take effect August 1.

    Interim Chair of the History Department will be Dr. Kent Dollar. Dr. Dollar is a Professor in History and has served as a faculty member at Tennessee Tech for 16 years. Dr. Dollar’s interim appointment will take effect August 1.

  • General Complaint Reporting – Summer 2021

    In addition to the Fraud, Waste, or Abuse reporting form, Tennessee Tech also has a form on Internal Audit’s website for confidentially reporting complaints about accounting, internal control, auditing matters, code of conduct, and other related issues that are NOT fraud, waste, or abuse. Complainants remain COMPLETELY ANONYMOUS to Internal Audit unless the last section of the form is completed. General complaints received on this form are routed to appropriate campus departments for follow-up.

    The form can be submitted online or completed, printed, and mailed to Internal Audit, PO Box 5154, Cookeville, TN 38505.
