    9/22 Veteran Suicide Awareness Day

    On September 22, the Department of Military and Veteran Affairs at Tennessee Tech will host a display in the Centennial Plaza to raise awareness to the prevalence of suicide among veterans.

    The date of September 22 for the observance is significant. The month of September is recognized as National Suicide Prevention Month and the number 22 is the average number of veterans lost to suicide in the U.S. each day, based on a statistic from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.

    This event will give visitors an opportunity to mourn the loss of a loved one to suicide, gather resources on how to identify the warning signs, as well as get information on how to reach out if you think someone might be contemplating suicide. A board will be set up for visitors to post a name, photo, or simply compose a message in memory of those who have been lost to suicide.
    It is our hope that you will take a moment to visit our display, honor those we have lost, and bring veteran suicide awareness to our campus community. The more attention we bring to this topic, the more we can connect veterans and their loved ones to the resources they need.

    Tennessee Tech Ducks Unlimited 2021 Inaugural Meeting and Officer Election

    The first 2021 Tennessee Tech Ducks Unlimited meeting will be held Thursday, September 23 at 6:00 PM in Oakley Hall room 137.   If you are interested in wetland conservation and conserving the natural resources for duck habitat then please come and join other students who have the same interest.  You do not have to be a current member to come to the first meeting.     CAFÉ Conversations: President’s Cabinet Series

    Join us on September 22 for our next CAFÉ Conversations session with members of the President’s Cabinet: Karen Lykins, Chief Communication Officer, Lee Wray, Chief of Staff and Secretary to the Board of Trustees, and Troy Perdue, University Counsel.  During this session, Karen, Lee, and Troy will provide an overview of their area and current resources and activities that promote student and faculty success. The conversation will also serve as an opportunity to engage with faculty on how they can partner with each area on student success initiatives.

    Coffee, tea, water, and individual snacks will be provided.

    We need athletes! Faculty and staff invited to weekly soccer game at the FIT

    Every Wednesday at 2 p.m., we have a pick-up game for faculty and staff at the indoor soccer arena in the FIT.

    This is a great opportunity to meet colleagues from different disciplines among our campus. It’s also an excellent workout.

    It’s relaxed – we don’t keep score (well… usually), we avoid hard tackles, and it’s just a lot of fun. We have men and women of all skill levels attending, ranging from former college athletes to noobs.

    Scholarship Application for 2022-2023 Now Open

    The general scholarship application for the 2022-2023 academic year is available now through Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021. All students must complete this application in order to be eligible for Tennessee Tech scholarships in the Fall 2022, Spring 2023, and Summer 2023 terms.

    If you have a renewable departmental scholarship, you have to re-apply every year in order for that scholarship to be renewed!

    Volunteers Needed! 100 Acres of STEM Outreach Event 9/25/2021

    Volunteers are needed for a family outreach event on Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM at the Oakley STEM Center.

    Volunteers will assist with hands-on STEM activities, event logistics, set up and tear down. The event is open to families and their children ranging from Pre-K to 3rd grade.
