Calling All Ladies in Civil Engineering who are interested in Structures!
All Ladies in Civil Engineering (ALICE) will host Katie Lewis and Nitaya Chayangkura, structural speakers from Benesch on October 4th from 6pm to 8pm in PRSC 215. All ladies who are majoring in Civil Engineering or who would like to major in Civil Engineering are welcome to attend.
Benesch has been practicing for over 75 years and specializes in bridges, aviation, civil cite development, and railroads. Katie and Nitaya have over 20 years of experience combined and both of a passion for helping communities through designing bridges and other structural components.

SOAR in 8-D
Every aspect of wellness may affect a student’s life. Overall wellness directly relates to a student’s quality of life as well as student success. Join the counseling center Wednesdays beginning October 5 as we SOAR into the 8 dimensions of wellness. We will learn about tips for positive wellness that align with the eight dimensions of overall well-being. iMakerSpace Pancake Day with PancakeBot
Come visit the iMakerspace in Volpe Library 348 from 11am to 12pm on Sept. 27th to enjoy some pancakes and see some of the cool things the iMakerspace has to offer! You will be able to design and “print” your own pancakes via the PancakeBots in the space!

Surplus Furniture – Foundation Hall Library – Room 250
The furniture currently in Foundation Hall Room 250 will be put on GovDeals starting the week of 10/10. This furniture is available for the campus community to remove and use in campus spaces, not for personal use. Furniture is available on first come, first serve basis. Furniture moves will be at the expense of the department.

Hispanic Heritage Month Film Screening
Golden Eagles! The Women’s Center invites to you to come out and help us celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a free film screening of the film Dolores!
The screening is on Tuesday, September 27th at 6:00 PM in Stonecipher Hall Room 126.
The film follows the life of Dolores Huerta, co-founder of the United Farm Workers’ Union with Cesar Chavez. From IMDB, “Dolores Huerta bucks 1950s gender conventions by starting the country’s first farm worker’s union with fellow organizer Cesar Chavez. Singing on Centennial TOMORROW!
Come out to Centennial plaza, tomorrow September 27th, and join the Residence Hall Association and the Disney club for a night of karaoke, prizes, and snacks. Employer Expo Job and Internship Fair on September 27!
Don’t miss the single largest career fair ever held on Tennessee Tech’s campus happening Tuesday, September 27 at the Employer Expo Job and Internship Fair! This recruiting event will house over 200 organizations who are actively seeking co-op, internship, and full-time, entry-level positions. Employers will be at the Employer Expo to meet and discuss their employment opportunities with you!
The Employer Expo will be held from 10am to 2pm in the Hooper Eblen Center and ALL Majors are invited to attend. Students will need to enter using either the Arena Level tunnel on McGee Blvd or by entering the main Hooper Eblen Lobby located above the tunnel entrance. Be sure to bring your Eagle Card with you so we can make a personalized nametag for you upon arrival!
Remember, Career Fairs are NO BACKPACK ZONES – please leave your backpack in your car or room!

Volunteers Needed Scrumdiddlyumptious STEM (Willy Wonka) Fab Friday 9/30/2022
Volunteers are needed for a family outreach event on Friday, September 30, 2022, from 4:30 – 8:30 PM at the Oakley STEM Center.
Volunteers will assist with hands-on STEM activities, event logistics, set up, and tear down. The event is open to families & their children ranging from 3rd-8th grade. Please consider taking the time to help and feel free to share this opportunity with others who may be interested.
Also, food and refreshments will be provided for volunteers!

Faculty Achievements Database
Have you heard about Tennessee Tech’s new faculty accomplishments digital database? Faculty Success, by Watermark® (formally known as Digital Measures®), is a new database being adopted by the University to assist with collection and reporting of faculty activities and accomplishments. The Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence (CAFÉ) is excited to partner with the Faculty Annual Evaluation Working Group, the Office of Research, members of Faculty Senate, and the Office of Institutional Assessment, Research, and Effectiveness, to adopt and implement this system. Faculty and administrators who have had an early look at the system are very excited about the automation of the system and the ease in which faculty can now manage their accomplishments and activities. The implementation team is looking for early adopters across multiple departments. Any non-tenure track, tenure-track, or tenured faculty, interested in working with the team to test out the database should submit your information here by September 30th.

Group Work Faculty Panel
Join the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning on Tuesday, September 27th at 11 am for our next workshop, a faculty panel on Group Work. Group activities can support social, teaching, and cognitive presences in both on-campus and online learning environments. In this session, a panel of TnTech faculty members will share their techniques for effectively using group work in their courses. The panel and CITL staff will be available for questions. Help Us Teach Social Engineering and Cyber-safe Practices Better
98% of Cyber Attacks involve some form of Social Engineering. Do you feel safe? Dr. Denis Ulybyshev and Master’s Candidate David Feier are looking to potentially hold a seminar or training in Social Engineering and Software Security. However, we need your help to know what material to cover. If you would like to help us learn more about how well Tennessee Tech students and employees know about Social Engineering and Software Security, we have a brief survey (23-30 minutes) you can complete to assist us. The results may be used to structure a course or a training seminar that will be released during Cyber Awareness Month (October). Furthermore, survey results may be used to justify the need for developing tools and methodologies for software vulnerability management in automatic and continuous mode.

Purple Career Readiness PART TWO Workshop on September 22!
Join the Center for Career Development on Thursday, September 22, beginning at 11 a.m. in the Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room (2nd floor) for this Purple Career Readiness PART TWO Workshop! This workshop will feature Regions Bank, who will provide insight regarding how to plan a successful budget while starting your career!
This event is open to all students in all majors and counts toward Part Two of the Purple Career Readiness application for junior and senior students. Bring your Eagle Card for a quick sign-in.
