The Center for Career Development is currently operating on a modified operation schedule. Students can still make appointments, have their resumes critiqued and search for job opening through Handshake. In addition, all student appointments are currently being handled via phone or Zoom.

March Nomination: Nominate a deserving Tech employee for Ambassador of the Month
Show your appreciation for someone who has exceeded the call of duty to help you by nominating that person as Ambassador of the Month. The winner receives a letter of recognition, a certificate and a reserved parking space on campus for one month. Nominations are currently being accepted for the Outstanding Professional Award and the Outstanding C&S Staff Award. The awards are based on job performance, attitude toward University constituencies, commitment and service to the University, professional development and suggestions for program improvements. Registration for Pepsi Bobby Nichols Golden Eagle Scramble presented by Michelob
Registration for the 2020 Pepsi Bobby Nichols Golden Eagle Scramble presented by Michelob Ultra has officially opened, enabling golfers to make reservations for Tennessee Tech’s golf fundraiser.
The fundraiser brings back its popular three-day format yet again, featuring 18 holes of golf on Friday, June 12, Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14. The tournament will take place at both the Golden Eagle Golf Club and White Plains Golf Club. Pepsi returns as the title sponsor for the 16th year while the Golden Eagle Athletic Department welcomes Michelob Ultra as its new corporate partner as the event’s presenting sponsor. Michelob Ultra will also serve as the presenting sponsor of Doc Fields’ Annual Concert.
Tournament applications will be mailed to all past participants, former Tennessee Tech athletes and alumni in the surrounding areas.

Updated Precautions Regarding the Impact of COVID-19 AND THE COUNSELING CENTER
In accordance with recommendations by the Centers of Disease Control with regard to limiting gatherings/groups to less than 10 people, the Tn Tech Counseling Center will remain open with updated precautions. All in person appointments are cancelled beginning Monday, March 23, 2020. All existing in person appointments will transition to videoconferencing appointments.
Please contact the Tn Tech Counseling Center directly to schedule future appointments via videoconferencing.
Please be patient as we work together in continuing to provide services and resources while making health and safety the priority of the Tn Tech community.

Internal Search for Women’s Center Director
The Women’s Center is conducting a search (internal only) for a part-time Director to lead and support efforts for women’s equity across campus and the community. The appointment to the position is for 1 – 3 years and is renewable. Applicants will be required to electronically upload a Letter of Interest and a detailed Curriculum Vitae. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure all materials are received. Applications without all required documents are incomplete and will not be considered. Update on “I Heart Tech Students” Campaign
You have likely seen emails and other promotions about the “I Heart Tech Students” campaign, which will run through March 27 (Tech’s Charter Day). Out of respect for current events surrounding COVID-19, we will no longer be reaching out via phone or email to promote this campaign. The giving site will remain live through March 27, and the areas identified at https://dayofgiving.tntech.edu are as important as ever for students facing tough times. Their academic success is certainly a priority for us all. It is our sincere hope that we can champion these areas more fully in the future. We will communicate a final fundraising total with you after March 27, and we hope to communicate additional celebratory news in the future. In the meantime, please stay safe and stay well.

Tornado System Testing Campus Wide Schedule for Friday, March 20
On Friday, March 20 beginning at 7 a.m., campus-wide tornado warning testing will begin. Testing of this system will mean that individuals on campus will hear multiple cycles of the tornado warning messages and the all clear messages throughout buildings on campus. This testing is necessary to diagnose issues with the alarm system and to ensure that the emergency notification systems we have in place are all properly functioning. Testing is expected to last at least half a day and possibly longer. During this time period, you will hear various alarms and/or sirens as well as the public address announcements advising you to seek shelter in your building, followed by all clear notifications.
No tornadoes are expected during this time period. You will not be expected to follow these directions during this testing period. Should the forecast change and severe weather be predicted for our area, we will reschedule the test date and notify all building coordinators.
University Police apologizes in advance for any frustration the testing period may cause. This date and time was selected hoping to minimize the effect on our campus community.

Interior and Bedding Plants Available
With school classes being remodeled into Remote Learning, we have many plants that were being used or planned for use with courses. These include a variety of interior plants, and gold marigolds and red-leaf, red flower wax begonias for bedding plants. And any other plants without a suitable use for courses.
These are now available at the Tech Farm Lab Greenhouses (across from Hyder Burks Pavilion – see green and white letter sign and arrow to drive entry). If interested, call me at 931-372-3288 office and leave a message of your interest. I will return calls as soon as possible during this week and next.

Spanish for Beginners- 100% Online
Do you want the skills you will need to thrive in a global society? If you answered yes, you should learn Spanish at Tennessee Tech!
SPAN 1010 (3 credits) will be offered this summer.
Dates: SPAN 1010= 6/1/2020 – 7/2/2020
Meeting: 100% Online
We will learn basic vocabulary and grammar and begin to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills to be able to communicate in the Spanish language. We will also identify common beliefs and cultural practices in the Spanish-speaking world. Course activities will consist of reading, videos, asynchronous conversations, grammar exercises, and quizzes.
Taking this class and the SPAN 1020 class offered will also fulfill foreign language requirements you may have for your BA degree!

Disaster Support Counseling Group
The Tn Tech Counseling Center is offering a support group for students affected by the recent tornadoes. The group meetings will occur in the Eagle Resource Room- RUC -387 on March 13, March 27, April 3, and April 10, 2020. In addition, the Tn Tech Counseling Center has well-being and wellness screening tools available to all students. These screening tools may be accessed through the counseling center website.
