College of Education Appreciates Regional School Districts
Recently, representatives of Tech’s College of Education visited schools and central offices in Clay and Pickett Counties. These visits are part of the college’s annual celebration and recognition of teachers/educational professionals.
“We delivered padfolios and cakes decorated with “We Appreciate You” to each of the schools and offices,” said Lisa Zagumny, Dean. “It’s essential to recognize and thank those who give so much of themselves through their dedication to and passion for educating Tennessee’s students.”

Employee Celebration on Wednesday
We are celebrating the end of a successful academic year and the collective contributions of our employees that made it possible. We want to celebrate you, so we hope you will join us on Wednesday, May 8th, from 11am – 2pm. Festivities will be held rain or shine on Centennial Plaza and in the Tech Pride Room of the RUC.
The event will include a dunk tank, lots of fun games with chances to win prizes like gift cards and Dollywood tickets, a complimentary picnic-style lunch, and a Tech’s Got Talent show. Our sponsor for the event, Ascend Federal Credit Union, will be on-site giving away concert cash at their booth in the Tech Pride Room so please be sure to stop by and say hi. Students Recognized for IMPACT Service-Learning Course Projects
Tennessee Tech students are making an impact on their campus and in their communities through their service work and projects in a new IMPACT Cookeville Service-Learning (SVCL 4150/6150) course. This course was first offered in spring 2024 by College of Education instructor Kinsey Simone, PhD. On April 8th, students Tyree Cripps, Heather Bertram, and Melody Newman presented on their individual community resource packets, which included resources on equal opportunity, benefits of young adult literature (YAL), and promoting STEM for all to City of Cookeville Mayor Laurin Wheaton and Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter. Each student was gifted an iPad in recognition of their service from IMPACT Cookeville and the College of Education’s Jeffers Technology Endowment. Golf Selection Show – May 1
The Tennessee Tech men’s golf team cordially invites Golden Eagle fans to its Selection Show Watch Party on Wednesday, May 1 as the purple and gold await to hear its destination for the 2024 NCAA Regionals. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. CT.
After earning its first Ohio Valley Conference Tournament title since 1990 behind a dramatic, 3-2 win over SIUE in the league’s match-play championship on Wednesday, the Golden Eagles are headed to its first NCAA Tournament since nearly 35 years. Tech will learn its placement in the field with the official NCAA Tournament selection show at 1:00 p.m. and all fans are encouraged to attend, free of charge, a special viewing party in the Eagles Nest on the fourth floor of the Hooper Eblen Center.
Light refreshments will be served and the whole team and coaching staff will be in attendance to revel in the joyous occasion.

Tennessee Tech Students Present Solar Eclipse Images
Four Tennessee Tech students, Evelyn Brachey, Mackenzie Henley, Lily Ledford, and Aaron Livesay took part in a Special Topics course on Imaging the Total Solar Eclipse this semester. Over the spring semester, they learned solar imaging and telescope techniques, and planned their images in preparation for the eclipse on April 8. They traveled to Bloomington, Indiana, in the path of totality with physics faculty Steve Robinson and Mary Kidd, where they set up their equipment as part of the Solar Eclipse Workshop hosted by Indiana University, Bloomington. They will be presenting their final images and speaking about their process on Tuesday, April 30 at 4:00 pm in BRUN 228.
