The Student Members of the American Chemical Society will be giving away 24 oz Nalgene water bottles on Thursday, April 25 beginning at 11 a.m. in the LSC atrium by Einstein’s to celebrate Chemists Celebrate Earth Week. The goal is to promote sustainable practices through green chemistry principles and to reduce waste. There are 100 water bottles and they are first come first served. Water bottles cannot be held for anyone and are only one per person. This event is funded by SGA SOLO and open to all students. Questions can be sent to smacsttu@gmail.com.

Sounds of Science Honors Colloquium Recital- April 26
You’re invited to join the Sounds of Science Honors Colloquium class for their recital on Friday, April 26 at 2:30 p.m. in BFA 374. The idea of this colloquium is that music accesses other areas of the brain that can be used to construct deeper understanding. Throughout the semester students in the course used music theory to demonstrate fundamental chemical concepts. During the recital each student will present a piece they composed that auditorily demonstrates a concept in chemistry or in their major. Refreshments will be provided. Tech’s Crawford Alumni Center offers Albuquerque Balloon Festival trip Oct. 9-14
Join Tennessee Tech alumni, faculty, staff and friends for a trip to the Albuquerque Balloon Festival Oct. 9-14, 2024. We’ll travel to the Land of Enchantment where we’ll enjoy New Mexico’s beautiful landscapes, history and architecture. We’ll spend three nights in Santa Fe and two nights in Albuquerque. The highlight of this tour is the Albuquerque Balloon Festival.

Open Foundry Night!
Want a distraction from studying for finals? Interested in learning more about the metal casting process? Good news, the Tennessee Tech Chapter of the American Foundry Society is hosting an open foundry night on April 24th starting at 6:00pm. During this time, you will get the chance to see, and even partially participate in, the casting process as experienced personnel walk you through each step of making your own casting. Location: 110 W Tenth St, Cookeville, TN 38501. Disclaimer: Only authorized personnel can pour the metals. Closed-toed leather shoes/boots are required. Pants are required (NO SWEATPANTS OR LEGGINGS). Safety glasses will be provided but it is highly recommended you bring your own in case of a shortage. Tech Players 24-Hour Play Festival
Join the Tech Players in participating in or watching our 24 Hour Play Festival! Groups will work to write, memorize, stage, and perform short plays over a 24 hour period. The fun begins this Friday April 19th at 6 p.m. with performances on Saturday April 20th at 8 p.m. All are welcome to watch the show for free!
