    The Rural Reimagined Club (RRC), Tennessee Tech’s Grand Challenge initiative to transform rural living through science, technology, and innovation, wants to invite you to their first meeting on Tuesday, February 2nd, at 11 am via Zoom. Guest speaker Andrea Kruszka, the Rural Outreach Coordinator at the Tennessee Center for Rural Innovation, will be sharing about innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities at TN Tech. Come learn more about Rural Reimagined at TN Tech and how you can get involved in rural service and outreach, as well as the upcoming Rural Journeys speaker series. For more information, contact RRC President Kester Nucum at knucum42@tntech.edu.

    Join us TONIGHT for An Evening with Alex Jenny, The Drag Therapist

    The day has finally come! Join Center Stage, the Women’s Center and Project Awaken TONIGHT (Feb. 1) for “An Evening with Alex Jenny, the Drag Therapist” at 6 P.M.!

    Alex Jenny is a Chicago-based trauma therapist and drag queen known as The Drag Therapist. She is a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in trauma recovery, identity development, gender affirming care, and changing our relationships to our younger selves. Her drag and art focuses on uplifting and celebrating trans people of color and more specifically trans women and trans feminine people of color. Most recently, she hosts a show called The Moment, part drag show, part talk show, that celebrates trans artists. She has been engaged in community organizing, activism, and social justice education for over a decade. We hope you will join us as we learn from Alex about her life, her work and her passions!

    First Meeting for the “Know My Name” Book Club

    Looking to connect with other students? Join book club! This term’s read is Know My Name by Chanel Miller, an immersive memoir of Miller’s highly publicized sexual assault by Stanford University swimmer Brock Turner, the high-profile court case, and its aftermath. All students are welcome to attend this book club sponsored by the Women’s Center, PEP & Project Awaken.

    Avant-Garde (French club) meeting

    Avant-Garde (TTU’s French Club) will meet on Thursday, February 4 at dead hour (11-12) in Oakley 219.  We’ll decide on activities for the semester, at a safe, social distance. Avant-Garde does not collect dues, and the only requirement for participating in its activities is an interest in French and francophone culture.  If that sounds good to you, come see us on February 4 and say “bonjour!”

    Purple Career Readiness Workshop on Feb. 2: Making a Great (Virtual) Impression!

    Join the Center for Career Development on Tuesday, Feb. 2, beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room (2nd floor) for this Purple Career Readiness Workshop. You only have one chance to make a great first impression – learn how to sell yourself when meeting with employers virtually from Erin Bullington, Assistant Director of the Center for Career Development!

    This event is open to all students in all majors and counts towards the Purple Career Readiness Certificate for junior and senior students. Bring your Eagle Card for a quick sign-in.

    To attend virtually, access the TEAMS link in Handshake Events. To receive credit for attending, you must log in with your Tennessee Tech email, participate if asked to during the workshop and be present for at least 80% of the presentation.
