Rural Reimagined is pleased to recognize the winners of TN Tech’s Eagle Works Idea Challenge competition, Bailee Kauffman and Elijah Brooks! The Idea Challenge is a competition for all students and programs across campus to come up with an idea for a product, business, or service that is feasible and solves a problem. Competitors present a 90 second pitch of their idea to the judges and compete for $1,500 in prizes. About her win, Kauffman states, “I am beyond honored to have placed first in the Idea Challenge! This year, I innovated a safety necklace called the Phoenix that is linked to an app on your smart phone. The safety necklace mimics an ordinary necklace but has the potential to save one’s life!” Brooks states, “I chose to speak about how smart contracts can benefit small businesses, especially those in rural areas. I am very thankful to have placed in the challenge, and I plan to participate even more next semester!” Congratulations to both Bailee and Elijah. Wings up!

On Dec. 7, 1972, NASA launched Apollo 17, the final moon-landing mission of NASA’s Apollo program. Next year marks the 50th anniversary of this launch and to celebrate, the Crawford Alumni Center plans to honor Tennessee Tech alumni, faculty, staff and students who have worked for NASA. The employment can be in any capacity (internship, co-op, full-time) and in any field (engineering, biology, marketing, communications, human resources, etc.). We know alumni and friends who have worked for NASA have amazing stories to tell, and we want to record those stories for future generations! We also plan to host a gathering of all Tech NASA alumni and friends in late spring of 2022. Join StudentCPT for our yearly Christmas party where we will be making Christmas cards for local assisted living facilities and nursing homes! All are invited to the Star Party being hosted by this semester’s ASTR 3100 (Observational Astronomy) class on Thursday, December 2, from 5.30 to 7 pm in the parking lot behind Foundation Hall. (Cloudy-skies date is Tuesday, December 7.) Telescopes will be set up for observing planets, stars, nebulae, and other galaxies, so come along and marvel at the wonders of the universe.
