    National Chemistry Week- Mole Day Race Oct. 18

    The Student Members of the American Chemical Society invite you to kick off National Chemistry Week (Oct 17-23) with our Mole Day Race on Monday, Oct. 18 from 5-7 p.m. at the Tucker Stadium track. A mole is an important unit in chemistry that helps count large number of particles (6.022×10^23 to be exact!). Help us celebrate by running or walking a mole of zeptometers (602 meters). This event is open to all ages and is free. The event will not take place if it rains. Questions can be sent to smacsttu@gmail.com.

    Councilwoman follows the story of Carmen Castillo behind the scenes of politics. Politicians aren’t often full-time hotel housekeepers, union members, grandmothers, and immigrants working service sector jobs, but Carmen Castillo changes that when she wins a seat on the City Council in Providence, Rhode Island. This event is sponsored by the Women’s Center. The screening begins on Monday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. virtually or in-person in Johnson Hall 103.     Eagle Works Business Model Canvas workshop!

    Jeff Brown from The Biz Foundry will be leading this session on how to make your idea come to life. Business Model Canvas is a great tool for you to learn if your idea or product is viable, how to identify your customers, find any issues, and give yourself and your team the best chance for success!

    The Eagle Works judging rubric is based off Business Model Canvas, so if you’re thinking about competing, this workshop is essential!

    The iMakerspace is on the third floor of Volpe Library. Use the north staircase (past the MyTECH helpdesk) to access. If you need an accessible entrance, please email Andrea at akruszka@tntech.edu before 4:30 p.m. that day to arrange.

    RHA Dodgeball Tournament

    The Addiction and Recovery Awareness @ TN Tech (ARA) is a student-driven organization aimed at raising awareness of the use, abuse, and dependency of addictive substances and seeks to educate the community and provide resources and support for those in recovery through a variety of activities and peer support. The ARA Invites you to get involved in planning and promoting activities, educating the campus, and providing support for the TN Tech community. The second meeting of ARA is scheduled for 11:00am on Tuesday, October 19 via Zoom. There was a great turnout at the first meeting, and ARA would love to grow in membership.     Join the Center for Career Development on Thursday, Oct. 14, beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room (2nd floor) for this Purple Financial Planning workshop. This workshop will feature Harrison Myers from Northwestern Mutual, who will provide insight regarding how to plan a successful budget while starting your career!

    This event is open to all students in all majors and counts toward Part Two of the Purple Career Readiness application for junior and senior students. Bring your Eagle Card for a quick sign-in.
