Fashion Show Viewing Party – Free Tote Bags!!

The Fashion Merchandising Association will be hosting a Fashion Show Viewing Party on Tuesday, Apr. 11th from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in Oakley Hall, Room 124. This event is sponsored through SOLO funds. Food will be provided by ChartWells and will consist of appetizers and desserts. The FMA officers have each selected a runway show that they feel has changed the design industry and has inspired upcoming designers, which we will view and discuss. We will also have a mini runway show of our own and encourage attendees to dress up as their favorite designers to show their best runway walks! Finally, each attendee will leave the event with a free FMA tote bag, created by the FMA President to match any outfit in your closet. We hope that this event will be a way to bring together those who love fashion for a night of runway shows, costume tours, and fun, as we prepare for the end of a great school year! Clothesline Project 2023 with the Women’s Center

The Clothesline Project displays handmade shirts bearing witness to interpersonal violence in our community. Each shirt is decorated to represent a particular survivor’s experience. The Clothesline Project started with thirty-one shirts hung in Hyannis, Massachusetts in 1990 to call attention to violence against women. Since then, thousands of projects have been started in communities worldwide. The Tennessee Tech Women’s Center has been involved since 1998 and has always welcomed participation from all people. We display our collection every April during Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Join us, APSIRES, Upper Cumberland Family Justice Center, TNTECH Counseling and Pi Sigma in this annual Women’s Center event!

    Goals of The Clothesline Project

    The Clothesline Project aims to

      • Bear witness to survivors and victims of interpersonal violence.

      • Help with the healing process of survivors or those who have lost a loved one to interpersonal violence.

      • Educate, document, and raise awareness of the extent of interpersonal violence in our community.

Provide a nationwide network of support, encouragement, and information for other communities starting their own Clothesline Projects.
