The Iris Review, Tech’s literary magazine, is now accepting submissions until Feb. 28th! We welcome new or previously published authors, and submissions include prose, poetry, and art! Art submissions will be considered for the cover of the issue! If your work is chosen to be published, you will receive an invitation to the launch party at the end of April where you will receive a physical copy of the magazine. We encourage all Tech students, faculty, and alumni to submit!

Join the Craft Center this weekend! It’s the perfect time to select gifts for everyone on your list!

Join the Bryan Symphony Orchestra for their upcoming concert on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at 3 PM. The BSO presents “The Rose of Sonora – a violin concerto in five scenes” by George S. Clinton, performed by guest artist Holly Mulcahy. Also performed at this concert is Symphony No. 1 in C Major, Op. 21 by Ludwig van Beethoven, and The Moldau by Bedřich Smetana.

TTU students will be admitted for free to the November 14, 2021 concert, but must reserve a ticket in advance or at the box office on the day of the concert.

REALM of FANTASY:  Erin Knight Senior Thesis Exhibition

Senior Thesis Exhibition for Bachelor of Fine Arts in Metals

Goblins and faeries have taken over the gallery at the Appalachian Center for Craft in Smithville, TN. Graduating senior Erin Knight created a scene of wonder in her student exhibition, “Let The Finale Be Unseen”, a lively cast of fantastical creatures caught in a moment of time. They brought their tree and storybook with them and will be in residence Nov.17 – 30, 2021. All ages are invited.

A culmination of three years of hard work, features goblins, faeries, and other creatures out of folklore exploring our world from the safety of a tree transplanted from theirs. Attendees can view these intrepid explorers from all angles as they move about the space. Artist Erin Knight invites close inspection of the work and the associated title cards, “because some secrets need a little digging to uncover.”

The School of Art, Craft & Design invites you to Bacchanal 2021, an online auction of art and fine craft. The Bacchanal auction will take place ONLINE only. All auction items are gorgeous handcrafted works donated by generous local, regional and national artists including our own faculty, artists-in-residence and students. Proceeds from this annual event support competitive scholarships for students in the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program.

This year’s auction will be hosted by Amonett Eagle Auction and Realty at https://www.eagleauctions.com/21-098-ttu-art-auction. Bidding closes October 25, at 11 a.m. Click the “Bidder Registration andBidding” link to view all the items. On Thursday, October 14th, Dr. Joshua Hauser will present a faculty recital at 7:30p.m. in Wattenbarger Auditorium. Dr. Hauser’s program includes works by Charles Gounod, Jennifer Higdon, Arthur Pryor, Steven Verhelst, Maurice Ravel, and Sammy Nestico. Dr. Hauser will be joined in collaboration by Paul Thurmond, piano and Preston Light, tuba.

Dr. Hauser’s recital is dedicated to Sammy Nestico and all of those who we have lost in the last year. For those who are unable to attend in person, a livestream will be available through the School of Music website.
