    Nursing Students Deliver Healthcare in Belize

    In Dec. ’24, a group of Tech nursing students, led by Professors Melissa Geist and Jennifer Mabry, participated in a medical mission trip to Belize, Central America. The students gained hands-on experience while serving underserved communities.

    Students completed clinical rotations at a small remote hospital, assisting with patient care and learning to adapt to limited resources.

    “This trip combined cultural immersion with professional growth, fostering empathy and clinical competency,” related Geist.

    Update Syllabi to Reflect New Policy 216

    The syllabus template has been updated and published in the Faculty Handbook, including a new statement reflecting the new Policy 216 Student Academic Integrity. This policy and statement replace Policy 217 and the previous academic misconduct statement. The new policy is effective January 1, 2025. Please ensure all syllabi are updated per the current template available at  https://www.tntech.edu/handbooks/faculty/syllabus.php.

    New Policy 216 Academic Integrity Effective January 1, 2025

    Effective January 1, 2025, Policy 217 Student Academic Misconduct was replaced by Policy 216 Student Academic Integrity. The policy, associated procedures, and forms have changed.   • Confirm your faculty seat at Fall Commencment

    Reserve your seat to help celebrate graduates at our Fall 2024 commencement. We expect a packed Hooper Eblen Center with graduates and families. To reserve your seat, please let us know if you plan to attend the 9 a.m. ceremony, the 2 p.m. ceremony or both on Friday, December 13.

    If you plan to attend, please register at https://tf.tntech.edu/view.php?id=1643404 by Wednesday, December 11. This RSVP is for faculty members planning to sit in the designated faculty section near the stage.

    Although students will be seated as they arrive, the platform party and all faculty are invited to be part of the processional. All faculty are asked to line up in the Hooper Eblen Center tunnel in regalia 20 minutes before the start of the ceremony.

    Non-instructional faculty assignments (NIFA) proposals are due to department chairs by January 10, 2025. NIFA are designed to contribute to the professional growth of the faculty, improve teaching and curriculum across the University, and/or enhance scholarship and academic excellence of Tennessee Tech in ways that cannot be accomplished under constraints of regular workload assignments.     The campus community is invited to the English Department’s Festival of Student Writing, which showcases projects created this semester by students in ENGL 1010 and 1020 classes (English Composition I & II). The main feature of this lively event is the work of hundreds of first-year students who display and discuss their work at various booths and tables. Expect to see posters, exhibits, brochures, multimedia presentations, performances, and surprises. The event is designed for interaction; guests should ask students to talk about their projects: explain, expand, elaborate, elucidate, or enlighten. Now in its twenty-first year, the Festival is an exciting highlight of the fall semester.

    Counseling & Supervision Ph.D. Students and Faculty Present in Dallas

    Tech Counseling & Supervision Ph.D. students and faculty attended the Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision 2024 Conference in Dallas, TX. Students who presented included Lara Strate, Ravi Patel, Jasmine Reynolds, Paige Seymour, Regina Beach, and Alec Porter, with faculty mentors Agnes Luo, Mark Loftis, Katherine Wood, and Jonathan Wiley. Their presentations covered doctoral researcher development, group learning experiences, teaching social justice and advocacy, and expressive arts teaching.
