First Horizon Foundation supports Financial Literacy Program
The First Horizon Foundation recently presented Tennessee Tech with a $6,000 gift to support the College of Business’s financial literacy program. First Horizon’s support will allow Tech to deliver a one-credit-hour course in spring 2022 titled Financial Literacy for Entrepreneurs. The course will emphasize practical financial skills for entrepreneurs, offering a high-level examination of financial statements, ratio analysis, time value of money and the essentials of starting a business in Tennessee. It will conclude with a panel discussion, consisting of entrepreneurs and individuals involved in debt and equity financing, which will be open to local community members. The class will also provide faculty and graduate assistants with the opportunity to engage in research to improve student outcomes related to financial literacy concepts.

American Sign Language Club Meeting
Hello, everyone! This Thursday (October 21st) we are having an American Sign Language Meeting in the University Center. It will be held in the Tech Pride Room on the 1st floor from 5 pm to 6 pm. You do not need to know Sign Language to join. We would love to see all of you there!

Call for EDGE QEP curriculum grant applications!
EDGE: Enhanced Discovery through Guided Exploration is Tennessee Tech’s Quality Enhancement Plan. The EDGE Creative Inquiry Course Grant Program offers Faculty the opportunity to redesign undergraduate or graduate courses to include creative inquiry projects and assignments. In addition, the EDGE rubric is now an optional method of assessing student work – faculty may propose another method for assessment. The limit on individual course grants is $5,000. The limit on multiple-course curriculum grants is $15,000. November 5 is the application deadline.

Question Persuade Refer Gatekeeper Training
Please join Dr. Christina Mick from the counseling center for Question, Persuade, Refer Gatekeeper training for suicide prevention. QPR is intended to teach individuals on how to recognized warning signs of suicide and use the QPR framework to assist those individuals in getting appropriate help. This gatekeeper training will be held on October 26 @ 11:00am in the multi-purpose room. For more information please contact Dr. Mick at 372-3331.

Tech’s Got Talent Extended and Open to Faculty/Staff
The Tech Wars Committee has extended the deadline for the Tech’s Got Talent: Visual Arts Edition. They have also opened the competition up to faculty and staff. Deadline to register is November 2, 2021. There will be a gallery-style event on November 4, 2021 at 11 AM in the RUC Lobby. That is where each category will be judged. There will also be a “People’s Choice” Award through an online voting format. Please consider submitting your artwork. Click link below to learn more about the categories and also to register.
