    The Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) is developing a training series for the spring semester that will help you better utilize technology in the classroom.   • Faculty Research Committee Announces Call for Proposals for 2021-22

    The Faculty Research Committee is soliciting proposals for funding for 2021-22.  The deadline to submit proposals and all required application materials to the Office of Research is Feb. 25, 2022. Materials may be submitted electronically via email to jdicey@tntech.edu  or hand delivered to Derryberry Hall, Room 305.     Wings Up Welcome – Syed Ali Asad Rizvi

    Dr. Syed Ali Asad Rizvi is a new member of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering. Here are a few facts you should know about him.

    Where are you from?
    I’m originally from Pakistan.

    What degrees do you hold and where did you earn them?
    I earned my bachelor’s degree in Industrial Electronics Engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology (Pakistan). I then earned my master’s in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology. I got my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia, USA.

    What is your research area?
    My research area lies at the intersection of control theory, artificial intelligence, and optimization along with their application to autonomous systems.

    What is your favorite part of being at Tennessee Tech so far?
    I love the calm and peaceful vibe of the scenic Tech campus and the Cookeville city that gives me a sense of belonging in this small, but beautiful place.

    Wings Up Welcome – Michelle Estes

    Dr. Michelle Estes is a new member of the Department of Sociology and Political Science in the College of Arts and Sciences. Here are a few facts you should know about her!

    Where are you from?
    I’m from Mt. Pleasant, TN.

    What degrees do you hold and where did you earn them?
    I went to Columbia State Community College for my associate degree. Then I went to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for my bachelor. I earned my Master of Arts at Middle Tennessee University, continuing with a Graduate Certificate in Women and Gender Studies at MTSU. Then I earned my Doctor of Philosophy at Oklahoma State University.

    Tell us your research area or the area of academic study you are most interested in: My research broadly focuses on inequality in the criminal legal system. More specifically and recently I have been examining the negative consequences that are produced by wrongful convictions.

    What are your hobbies/interests?
    In my spare time I enjoy participating in outdoor activities.

  • University Advancement Has New Guidelines and a Form for Gift-in-Kind Donations

    New guidelines and a form for gift-in-kind donations are available on the University Advancement website. A gift-in-kind is tangible personal property that is subject to personal ownership. Examples can include personal collections of art, books, coins or movies; cars, boats, and aircraft; animals, such as livestock; equipment; software; and printed materials. Gift-in-kind donations support the Foundation’s mission by helping to strengthen programs and provide the best educational experience to students. Donations allow donors to receive the benefit of a charitable contribution without drawing on their cash reserves.

    TN Tech Food Pantry – Winter Break

    The TN Tech Food Pantry will closed for Winter break.  As student volunteers are heading home for the holidays, the main pantry, in Tech Village, will not be able to remain open.  Remember, we do have the Auxiliary Pantry in the library, behind the front desk, for breaks when we have to close the main pantry.  God’s Grace Food Pantry also serves our students and employees when we are on breaks.  They are located at 165 E. Broad St. Cookeville, TN 38501 and can be reached at 931-526-2177.

    We have a few changes coming in January that we are excited to roll out. Have a wonderful holiday break and we look forward to seeing you back in January.

    Relax and Refuel With Free Soups and Massage Chairs

    Relax and refuel during finals with free soups and massage chairs in the Tech Pride Room (RUC first floor) on Monday, December 13 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Free soups, drinks and desserts will be available while supplies last. This event is sponsored by the Student Government Association and the Office of Student Activities and Campus Life. Join us for a time to relax and let stress slip away!

    Wings Up Welcome – Jaime Williams

    Dr. Jaime Williams is a new member of the College of Business, Department of Decision Sciences and Management. Here are a few facts you should know about her!

    Where are you from?
    I’m from Albertville, Alabama.

    What degrees do you hold and where did you earn them?
    I earned my Bachelor of Arts at Ashland University. I acquired my Masters in Business Administration at the University of North Alabama. Then I earned my PhD in Business Management at the University of Mississippi.

    Tell us your research area or the area of academic study you are most interested in:
    My research area is composed of Human Resources and Organizational Behavior, Cross-cultural Organizational Behavior; Gender Diversity and Shareholder Activism.

    What are your hobbies/interests?
    I love to travel and do so as much as possible, I am huge Disney nerd, and I love sports but, my favorite is Softball. I played in college then three seasons in Europe professionally (The Netherlands, Italy, and Switzerland).

  • Sara Prinzi’s Farewell to Tech

    Sara Prinzi’s Farewell to Tech

    Sara joined University Development in October 2019 as the major gift officer for the College of Education and the College of Arts and Sciences along with the mid-west region of the US.  She served both colleges and her region extremely well as she built new relationships and re-established existing ones.  She instituted the “Prinzi Drop Method,” a technique she brought to the Development team from her previous fund raising roles.  The team has found great success with this method of dropping a quick note and Tech swag by an alum or donor’s home or business – many times resulting in a deeper conversation or a gift.

    In October 2020, Sara transitioned to the Associate AD for Development role.  She has partnered with AD Mark Wilson and the coaches to generate private support for each team.  She has met with almost 100 individuals over the last year who desire to support Athletics and our student-athletes.  Most recently, she has been instrumental in the Football Operations Center project which carries a $15M goal.  To date, Sara has placed over $2M in asks to potential donors to support the project.

    Sara’s last day with the University is January 11, 2022.  Please join me in thanking Sara for her service to Tech and wishing her well at PragerU!
