  • Be kind and avoid towing by not double parking on residential streets

    The Parking & Transportation Office reminds students to please be kind to our local neighbors and avoid a ticket or possible towing by not illegally parking on residential streets surrounding our campus.

    The City of Cookeville has reported challenges with students double parked on residential streets and sidewalks and, in some cases, blocking driveways. As a reminder, ample parking is typically available in the red and purple zoned lots near Tech Village and the intramural fields. The university also offers a convenient, free shuttle to get you around campus. See more information here.

    Adulting 1010

    The Center for Counseling and Mental Health Wellness is excited to be offering our “Adulting 1010” support group. A safe space to talk about stress when it comes to “the real world.” Adjusting to living away from home for the first time, planning meals on a budget, trying to stay on top of your classes while also maintaining a social life, or you’re about to graduate college and have no idea what you’re doing; whatever it is you’re going through – this is the group for you! Facilitated by Tessa Benefield, LPC/MHSP and Ben Higgins, LPC/MHSP-S. This support group will be on Fridays at 3:00pm beginning October 11th. The group will be located in the RUC room 387.     Celebrate the World: A Festival of Cultures- October 10

    Intercultural Affairs will host the first Cultural Festival of the year on Thursday, October 10th from 4:30 PM to 7 PM in the Quad. It’s an evening you won’t want to miss—featuring music from around the world, engaging activities from student organizations, and mouth-watering cultural dishes, all highlighting the diverse experiences of our campus community.

    Earlier that day, from 11 AM to 12 PM in the Tech Pride Room (RUC 101), join us for a special panel discussion.     Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar: Dr. Sanjana Curtis, UC Berkeley

    This week the Undergraduate STEM Research Seminar will host Dr. Sanjana Curtis, an NSF Astronomy and Astrophysics Postdoctoral Fellow at UC Berkeley. In her talk Finding Cosmic Goldmines: Merging Neutron stars and Kilonovae, Dr. Curtis will describe her search for the astrophysical origin stories of the elements that make up our world. The seminar will be this Friday at 4pm in Bruner Hall 119, with snacks served starting at 3:30pm. These seminars are geared for undergraduates from any STEM major, but graduate students and faculty are also encouraged to attend!

    Career Spots are pop-up tabling events held by Career Ambassadors in areas across campus! You can drop-in for a quick chat and gather all kinds of information about Handshake, how to find examples of resumes/cover letters, and upcoming events held like career fairs. With Career Spots, there isn’t a need for an appointment but bring your Eagle Card for attendance credit. Check Handshake to see all the upcoming dates!
