  • School of Human Ecology to present Outstanding Student Awards

    Annually the School of Human Ecology recognizes outstanding students during a reception scheduled in April. This year’s awards will be presented virtually on Friday, May 8.
    Students will be recognized in these categories: Outstanding Freshman – Hannah Bernhardt; Outstanding Sophomore – Kaylee Case; Outstanding Junior – Katy Hitchcock; Outstanding Senior – Sydney Elrod; Outstanding Child Development & Family Relations – Mary Lee; Outstanding Food Systems Administration – Julia Vesely; Outstanding Nutrition & Dietetics – Alyssa Lewin; Outstanding Child Life – Emily Reynolds; Outstanding Family & Consumer Science Education – Abby Bohannon; Outstanding Housing & Design – Jacob Williams; Outstanding Merchandising & Design – Kiara Blain and the Outstanding Human Ecology Award – Hannah Petty.   • Search for Director, Women’s Center

    The Women’s Center is conducting a search (internal only) for a part-time Director to lead and support efforts for women’s equity across campus and the community. The appointment to the position is for 1 – 3 years and is renewable. Applicants will be required to electronically upload a Letter of Interest and a detailed Curriculum Vitae. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure all materials are received. Applications without all required documents are incomplete and will not be considered.   • Stadium Drive Closure

    Stadium Drive will be closed beginning Monday, May 11th from 7th Street to the end of Browning Evins Residence Hall.  It will remain closed until the completion of roof replacement work on Browning Evins Hall.  Armstrong Avenue will be open from 7th Street and Wings Up Way will be open from the new Student Recreation Center to Stadium Drive.

    College of Education Celebrates National Teacher Appreciation Week

    In its sixth year the Annual Teacher Appreciation Celebration, coordinated by the College of Education and in partnership with local businesses, strives to recognize dedicated P-12 teachers and up-and-coming teacher candidates. This year’s Teacher Appreciation awards, in a variety of categories, have been presented virtually.

    Future educators awards went to Kaitlyn Eastin, a graduate student pursuing her master’s degree in Secondary Education/Math; the undergraduate award was presented to Richard Hendricks, an Elementary Education major.

    The 2020 Alumna of the Year was Hunter Zanardi. She is an Instructional Specialist / RTI2 Interventionist at Algood Elementary providing a multi-tiered approach to assisting students with their learning, social, and behavioral needs.

    Faculty, Student, and Staff Awards Presented by the College of Education

    Annually the College of Education recognizes outstanding members of their faculty, students, and staff during a reception usually scheduled for National Teacher Appreciation Day. This year’s awards have been presented virtually.

    Faculty award categories and recipients: Teaching/Jeremy Blair, Asst. Prof.; Research/Andrea Arce-Trigatti, Inst.; Service/Jennifer Meadows, Asst. Prof.; Team Player/Christy Killman, Chair of Exercise Science.

    Graduate and undergraduate students were recognized in these categories, respectively: Leadership/Lindsey Braisted and Kayla Hill; Service/Ashley Gilbert and Laura Scarborough; Professionalism/Jordan Killmon and Staci Dildine; Go-Getter/Jake Warwick and Barrett Streeter.

    Charles Craig received the Outstanding Advisor Award and Kathy Falkner in Curriculum & Instruction, the Outstanding Staff Award.

  • Hot Water Outage May 10-23

    There will be no hot water or steam on campus May 10-23, 2020 during the annual steam system outage.  Natural gas and electric water heaters will continue to operate at Tech Village, New Hall North, Southwest Hall, RUC (for food service only), East Stadium, West Stadium, APC, Foundation Hall, Hooper Eblen and Fitness Center.

     

    This outage is necessary to perform preventative maintenance, and is scheduled annually following spring commencement to minimize impact on other campus events.

  • Director of Institutional Assessment, Research and Effectiveness Zoom Interview

    The final four candidates for the Director of Institutional Assessment, Research, and Effectiveness (IARE) will have full-day Zoom interviews with campus on May 8th, 11th and 12th.         This training will offer healthcare related information regarding COVID-19. Tips and safe practices will be discussed.

          Finances in the COVID Era and Beyond

            This training will focus on how to remain financially secure during the COVID pandemic and beyond.

          May 19th: Thomas Heard:

            Transitioning Back to Work after COVID and Managing Telecommuting

              This training will focus on issues, tips, and concerns relating to telecommuting, transitioning back from telecommuting, and how to be successful in any work setting.

             John Woodard and Eric Brown:

              Cyber Security Awareness During and After COVID

                This two-part training will focus on ensuring best security practices during telecommuting and upon return to campus. Tips on safeguarding yourself will be provided.
