The Burnett Recreation and Fitness Center Personnel Changes
The Marc Burnett Recreation and Fitness Center is pleased to share the following new hires
Les Fralix has been promoted to the position of Associate Director for the MBRC. Les has been with the University since 2014.
Spencer Ryan recently accepted the position of Coordinator for Intramural Sports. Spencer has been with the University since 2017.
Mike Storch joined the MBRC team as a Student Center Section Supervisor in February. Mike is new to the University family.
We look forward to sharing future information with our campus community. Wings UP!

Annual Plant Sale
On Thursday March 31st the Plant Science Experience Club will be selling plants in the lobby of the RUC from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a variety of plants such as succulents and other indoor plants selling for $1-$10 to help raise money for the club. Cards For a Cause
Please Join Alpha Phi Omega in Making Cards for Local Nursing Home Residents Tomorrow, Thursday March 31 at 6:00 pm next to Einstein’s Bagels. This is a great opportunity to create something to raise the spirits of these residents who are sadly often forgotten.
Alpha Phi Omega is Co-Ed Service Organization based on the Cardinal Principles of Leadership, Friendship, and Service. A few examples of what we do include: Blood Drives, Personal Care Product Drives, Relief Drives, Campus Cleanups, Nursing Home and Emergency Services Card Making, etc. We strive to embody the aforementioned Cardinal Principles in all that we do in order to help others, build lifelong friendships, and develop ourselves as professional individuals. Meet the Tech Tomorrow faculty leaders: Holly Anthony, Innovation in All We Do
Holly Anthony, professor of mathematics education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education, has been named the faculty leader for the Tech Tomorrow Innovation in All We Do goal.
“Strategic planning is key to moving an institution towards a future that is imagined but not yet fulfilled,” Anthony said. “I am excited to be invited to play a role in that movement. I have seen a number of really good ideas come to fruition in my tenure at Tech and I have seen other really good ideas get lost in the daily grind. It is my hope to bring life to ideas that will put Tech at the forefront of innovation in academia.
“Tech Tomorrow is a dynamic strategic plan that is powered by the people for whom it is most impactful: students, faculty, staff, and the university. It will be a privilege to meet with faculty and students, hear their ideas for innovation in all we do, and work to develop those ideas into initiatives and programs that guide us towards excellence.”
The previous leader for this goal was Jason Beach, associate professor of curriculum and instruction in the College of Education.

TN Tech’s Cumberland Quintet celebrates 50th season!
Join the Cumberland Quintet, the faculty wind quintet in residence at Tennessee Tech University’s School of Music, on Wednesday, April 6 at 7:30 P.M. as they celebrate their 50th-anniversary season. The Cumberland Quintet, comprised of flutist Dr. Mary Matthews, oboist Dr. Michael Adduci, clarinetist Dr. Mark J. Cramer, bassoonist Dr. Jeff Womack, and hornist Dr. Greg Danner, will present a program of five works by living composers, featuring three world premieres commissioned for this anniversary concert: Lift Up by Nicole Chamberlain, Interchanging Parts by Tennessee Tech music alum Aaron Hunt, and Les Adieux by Mathieu Lussier. Additional works include Into the Blue, written by Cumberland Quintet member and TTU faculty composer Greg Danner, and Suite for Wind Quintet by Amanda Harberg. The concert is a celebration of the quintet’s rich past, exciting present, and vision for the future.

THE STORY:
“To shred or be shredded? That is the question.” When Nina enters her first air guitar competition, she thinks winning will be easy. But as she befriends a group of charismatic nerds all committed to becoming the next champion, she discovers that there’s more to this art form than playing pretend; it’s about finding yourself in your favorite songs, and performing with raw joy. Will Nina be able to let go and set herself free onstage? Following her mission to shred or be shredded, Airness is an exuberant reminder that everything we need to rock is already inside us. A comedy about competition, completion, and finding the airness inside yourself.

“Make. Do.”
The works in this show have been hidden from the public, like a bird enclosed in an egg. In this season of new beginnings, the artists will reveal their work, and the public is invited to witness the formerly secret made fully visible. Students of Tennessee Tech’s School of Art, Craft & Design will be presenting Make. Do., an exhibition at the Silver Fern in Cookeville, TN. A reception will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., and the show will run April 1–30, 2022. The gallery will be open Thursday and Friday 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Sunday 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. The gallery is open by appointment only on Tuesday and Wednesday. The artists practice in diverse disciplines such as blacksmithing, metalsmithing, ceramics, painting, fibers, graphic design, and photography. Please attend Make. Do. to be surprised by a variety of practices and to be welcomed into the excitement of this season in these emerging artists’ careers.

Budget Office – April Training
Budget Office training sessions for April are now scheduled if anyone is interested! Below is a brief description of each training:
General Budget Training: This training gives a big picture overview of the university budget, Banner screens, and budget revisions. This training is required for signature authority on budget revisions.
Budget Banner Screen Training: This training focuses specifically on the Banner screens frequently used for budgeting purposes. This is an optional training course.
Budget Shadow System Training: This training focuses specifically on our Shadow System Template. This is an optional training course.
Position Control Budget Training: This training focuses specifically on topics related to position control including new position set ups, personnel action forms, budget revisions for permanent positions, how to verify permanent position funding, lapsed salary, etc. This is an optional training course.

EWB & TTU Water Pros Hear from West TN River Basin Authority
Engineers Without Borders and TTU Water Professionals will be hosting their next joint meeting of the semester this Thursday, March 31st during dead hour in Prescott Room 330. We are going to be hearing from David Blackwood. David is an engineer with West TN River Basin Authority and will be speaking about the August 2021 flood in Waverly, TN. We’re having pizza for lunch so be sure to come hungry!
As always, all majors are welcomed and encouraged to join! We can’t wait to see everyone!!

Additionally, if staffing changes have occurred in your department and you need to remove someone from the list, please let us know as well.

TN Tech Presents Free Screening of Benjamin Franklin by Ken Burns
Eagle Works, in partnership with the WCTE PBS, is excited to present the free screening of Benjamin Franklin: A Film by Ken Burns tomorrow, March 31. The film represents the first part of an engaging documentary series exploring the life and work of Franklin, the world-renowned inventor, innovator, and scientist of American history. All students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to attend this free screening, which will be followed by an enlightening discussion led by Michael Aikens, director of Eagle Works, to consider Franklin’s impact on our nation and the power of innovation and entrepreneurship. The screening will be held in the Stonecipher Lecture Hall Room 126 Wednesday March 31st at 6pm. Let’s engage our campus and community through considering how Ben Franklin used innovation, science, and civic engagement to make his mark on American History. Visit the annual Clothesline Project display from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. & 4 p.m.-7 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, in the RUC Tech Pride Room. The Clothesline Project supports and bears witness to survivors of interpersonal violence. Those affected by interpersonal violence can visit the Women’s Center during office hours or the Clothesline Project display to create or drop off a shirt to add to the display.
