Tennessee Tech welcomes Ada Limón, the 24th U.S. Poet Laureate, for two events on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. Members of our campus community are invited to “Making Something Out of Nothing: Finding Helpful Ways to Conjure a Poem,” a craft talk taking place from 11:00 a.m. – noon in Henderson Hall 204B.  No writing experience is necessary. Ms. Limón will read from her new book, The Hurting Kind, at the Backdoor Playhouse starting at 7:00 p.m. in a free event open to everyone. These opportunities are sponsored by Center Stage and the TTU English Department.

Ada Limón is the author of six books of poetry, including The Carrying, which won the National Book Critics Circle Award for Poetry. She grew up in Sonoma, California and now lives in Lexington, Kentucky where she writes, teaches remotely, and hosts the critically-acclaimed poetry podcast, The Slowdown.
