Meet the Tech Tomorrow faculty leaders: Jeremy Blair, Engagement for Impact
Jeremy Blair, assistant professor of art education in the School of Art, Craft and Design, has been named the faculty leader for the Tech Tomorrow Engagement for Impact goal.
“I am so excited to serve on the Tech Tomorrow Strategic Planning team,” Blair said. “As the new faculty lead for Engagement for Impact, I look forward to fostering innovative partnerships, developing engaging programs, and building bridges across campus that empower our students and university.
“Tech Tomorrow provides a unique opportunity for me to collaborate across disciplines, explore new directions and infrastructures, and dream without boundaries. Speaking with today’s students and faculty inspires me to serve Tech Tomorrow creatively and reimagine the future of Tennessee Tech.”
He served on the previous Innovation in All We Do working group, as well as on the Rural Reimagined Grand Challenge committee.
The previous leader for this goal was Bedelia Russell, associate professor of nursing instruction in the Whitson-Hester School of Nursing.

The English Club is having a meeting about Graduate School! We’re bringing in Dr. Paulina Bounds our Associate Professor of Linguistics and Graduate Studied Director to talk to students and answer questions about Graduate school and the masters program. Be the Match Lunch and Learn
Join the Tri-Beta Club in welcoming Be the Match to campus! Be the Match is an organization designed to help the thousands of people diagnosed with life-threatening blood cancers and disorders like leukemia and lymphoma. They work in partnership with colleges and universities (like ours!) to raise awareness and help build the database of the National Marrow Donor Program. A cure exists! Help save a life and educate yourself on Thursday, March 31st from 11-12 am in the Tech Pride Room (RUC 101). There will be pizza, pastries, and fun prizes! Center Stage and the Commission on the Status of Women are very excited to present “Medical Misogyny: A Conversation with Maya Dusenbery” on Monday, April 18, 2022 at 7:00 PM in the Derryberry Auditorium. The author will discuss her award-winning book Doing Harm: The Truth About How Bad Medicine and Lazy Science Leaves Women Dismissed, Misdiagnosed, and Sick followed by a Q&A with the audience, reception, and book signing.

About the Author:
Maya Dusenbery is a journalist, editor, and author. Her book Doing Harm was a New York Times Editors’ Choice pick and the winner of the 2019 Minnesota Book Award for general nonfiction. She has been a guest on NPR, Good Morning America, and a variety of podcasts and radio programs to discuss her book, medical misogyny, and reproductive issues. Formerly the editorial director of the feminist blog Feministing.com, Maya has written for publications including the New York Times Magazine, Scientific American, Slate, Mother Jones, and Pacific Standard. She regularly speaks about gender bias in medicine to students, health care providers, patient advocates, and researchers.

Pedestrian traffic disruption on 10th Street and University Drive
Pedestrian traffic on the sidewalks bordering the Ashraf Islam Engineering building site will be temporarily disrupted starting on Monday, March 28. We expect this disruption to take several days. One location is at 10th street bordering the project site just west of the parking lot for Child Development Lab. The second location is at the corner of McGee Blvd. and University Drive on the south side of the street. Thank you for your patience as we accomplish work on this fantastic addition to our campus!

Qualtrics Insights Platform

Qualtrics is a powerful and multifaceted online data collection/survey tool. During this session, Dr. Mathende will cover the how to’s of Qualtrics. Writing Workshop: Writing Annotated Bibliographies!
Does your research project require an Annotated Bibliography? Are you struggling to figure out what to include, how much information to convey, and how to structure it? WEST, the Writing Excellence Studio at Tech, has got you covered! On Thursday, 3/31, we will be leading a dead hour workshop on writing annotated bibliographies. We can talk about the genre as a whole, and discuss specific concerns you might have for your class or instructor. The workshop will be in Henderson Hall 304B, from 11:00-11:50. Trumpet Day – Saturday, April 2nd
Please join us on Saturday, April 2nd, 2022 for Tennessee Tech’s annual Trumpet Day with in-person guest artist Stuart Stephenson, principal trumpet of the Atlanta Symphony, and virtual guest artist Tine Thing Helseth, international trumpet soloist from Norway.
This event will run in-person in the Bryan Fine Arts Building at Tennessee Tech University, located at 1150 N. Dixie Ave. in Cookeville, TN. Registration is free for Tennessee Tech students, faculty, and staff. A registration fee of $15 is required for the non-Tech community and includes the full day of events, lunch, and a swag bag. Tine Thing Helseth’s masterclass, supported by Center Stage, is open to the public. Registration begins at 9am with the first event kicking off at 10am. Counseling Center Rapid Access Appointments
The TN Tech Counseling Center will be providing Rapid Access Appointments on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning April 4- April 29, 2022 between the hours of 1:00pm and 3:00pm at Pinkerton Classroom which is located in Pinkerton Hall. Any TN Tech student is eligible to participate. Students may drop-in without an appointment between the hours 1pm and 3pm.
