NEW Virtual Workshops at the Appalachian Center for Craft
The Appalachian Center for Craft is now offering hands-on workshops through ZOOM! Participants will meet with instructors during live Zoom sessions. Sessions will include demonstrations, tips, techniques and advice on specific topics and projects. Students will have time to practice techniques or complete projects on their own and will reconvene through Zoom to ask questions, get advice, troubleshoot or to share completed work. Each virtual workshop will vary in length – some will take place over the course of a day, an evening, several evenings or weekends. Be sure to look for details listed with each workshop. Gold Career Readiness Workshop on Mar. 4: Top Ten Interview Tips
Join the Center for Career Development on Thursday, Mar. 4, beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room (2nd floor) for this Gold Career Readiness Workshop. Erin Bullington, Assistant Director of the Center for Career Development, will guide you through the top tips to have a successful interview!
This event is open to all students in all majors and counts towards the Gold Career Readiness Certificate for freshman and sophomore students. Bring your Eagle Card for a quick sign-in.

Flower & Gift Fund Notice
All University Faculty, Administrative Staff, and Clerical & Support Staff as defined by the personnel policies of the University, are members of the University Faculty and Staff Flower and Gift Fund, having accepted group participation in the fund. Each member of Faculty and Staff has the opportunity to contribute to the fund. The $10 contribution is deducted annually from the October payroll check. You may use this link to make your selection to begin or end your contribution.

Join us Wednesday, March 3 at 5 p.m. in Volpe Library 112 for FREE SHIRTS and one of the most important workshops for Eagle Works!
Jeff Brown from The Biz Foundry will be leading this session on how to make your idea come to life. Business Model Canvas is a great tool for you to learn if your idea or product is viable, how to identify your customers, find any issues, and give yourself and your team the best chance for success!
The Eagle Works judging rubric is based off Business Model Canvas, so if you’re thinking about competing, this workshop is essential!

In need of a professional photo? Look no further! The College of Business is hosting a photobooth that will give you a FREE professional headshot!
All you have to do is come to Johnson Hall room 402 on March 4 any time between 9-12 p.m. Come dressed as you are; Student to Career staff will be on-hand with professional attire to help you look sharp! It’s as easy as showing up, getting an outfit, snapping a pic, then continuing with your day; you’ll be in-and-out in no time.

Data Science second meeting: Data Science in the dark
Join Data Science League for their second meeting of the semester. Brendan Roberts (BS ’20) is a data scientist at Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). In his talk, Brendan will discuss how he taught data science to his co-workers at TVA and explain the importance of communicating data science to non-data scientists. He will also discuss his. most commonly used tools for basic and advanced data visualization and also give us a glimpse into his day-to-day workflow. Meeting is Tomorrow, March 2, 2021 at 11 am. Director of African and African-American studies at Stanford University, Allyson Hobbs, is the author of the award-winning book, A Chosen Exile: A History of Racial Passing in American Life. Hobbs examines the phenomenon of racial passing in the United States from the late eighteenth century to the present. This is a Center Stage event co-sponsored by Dr. Julia Gruber, Multicultural Affairs, and the Women’s Center. Reminder: Nominations for the 2021 Derryberry Award due March 3
The 2021 Derryberry Award nomination deadline is Wednesday, March 3. This award was established in honor of the late Everett Derryberry after 34 years as president of Tennessee Tech. This prestigious honor grants a plaque and cash award to a graduating senior who demonstrates a high level of scholastic achievement and successful campus involvement in leadership and enrichment opportunities.
