Fab Friday STEM Quest: Level Up!
Join us for our Fab Friday to embark on an epic journey at STEM Quest: Level Up!, where young adventurers will immerse themselves in the thrilling world of video games and discover the magic of STEM. From designing their own virtual worlds to unraveling coding puzzles, this event will ignite their imaginations and level up their knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This event will take place Friday, September 8,2023 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Oakley STEM Center. Level Up! is open to students’ grades 3rd-8th who must be attending with a parent or guardian. Tech Volleyball Hosts Invitational presented by Holiday Inn of Cookeville
Join us this weekend as Tech Volleyball hosts the Golden Eagle Invitational presented by Holiday Inn of Cookeville.
Competition starts Friday morning as Tech takes on Eastern Tennessee State University at 10:30 a.m. The Golden Eagles end the night battling Kennesaw State at 7:30 p.m. The invitational will come to a close on Saturday as Tech goes up against Cincinnati at 2:00 p.m. Admission is FREE for all fans!

URECA Grant Applications
The URECA (Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity) Grant Program at Tennessee Tech provides financial support for undergraduates engaging in research and creative activities, as well as for those presenting their work at conferences. The program offers three categories of grants: Mini Grants, Team Grants, and Travel Grants. Both Mini Grants and Team Grants are designed to fund faculty-supported research and creative activities conducted by students during the academic year. Mini Grants are available for individual students and have a maximum limit of $1000. Team Grants are designated for groups of students collaborating on a shared project and have a maximum limit of $5000. Additionally, Travel Grants are accessible for undergraduate students who are presenting their research or creative activities at regional, state, national, or international conferences. The Fall 2023 application deadline for Mini Grants and Team Grants is Sept. 20 at 4:30 PM. Applications for Travel Grants are accepted on a rolling basis, and applications must be received no later than six weeks before travel is planned.

Creative Writing Club Meeting Thursday, Aug. 31st
Come write with us! The TTU Creative Writing Club will have its first meeting on Thursday, Aug.31st in room 216A of Henderson Hall at 11 a.m. We welcome creative writers–poets, essayists, and fiction writers. We write in response to a writing prompt given by our club president at each meeting. Writers are encouraged to share their writing with the group, though no one is required to share. There are no dues or membership fees. No RSVP necessary.

The acting audition will include cold readings and a short interview.

Join the Student Members of the American Chemical Society (SMACS) and Lambda on Wednesday, Sept 6 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in LSC 1211 as we co-host representatives from the Eastman Equality employee resource group as they discuss their LGBTQ+ experiences in STEM. Annual Running of the Freshmen
Head to Tucker Stadium for the Tech Football home opener and the Annual Running of the Freshmen on Saturday, September 16. Freshmen in attendance will receive a FREE t-shirt and get to lead the Golden Eagle Football team onto the field with President Oldham and the First Lady prior to kickoff. Come to the RUC Tech Pride Room at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, for a town hall meeting about what the vision for Tech’s general education curriculum should be. Help us answer this question: What skills and knowledge do you as a future Tech graduate need to better prepare you for your intended career and your future as an informed citizen of the state, region, nation and world? We want to hear from you!

TENN TECH’S ROTC PROGRAM HOSTS 9/11 MEMORIAL STAIR CLIMB
Tennessee Tech’s ROTC program is holding a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb to honor first responders and those who lost their lives on that day. The climb will take place in Tucker Stadium on September 9, 2023. The gates will open at 8:00 a.m. for new participant registration, and at 8:46 a.m., the stair climb will commence. Participants are encouraged to walk the stairs without weight or join the members of Tech’s ROTC Golden Eagle Battalion, who will complete the stair climb wearing 35-pound backpacks. Budget Training Sessions for September
September budget trainings are now scheduled for anyone who is interested in attending. Please click here to register for a virtual session. Recorded trainings are also available on our homepage in addition to the monthly training dates, please click here to view our recorded sessions. Please note the General Budget Training is the only required training needed for signature authority on budget revisions, and is not available as a recorded session, you must register to attend. Recorded trainings include Position Control Budget Training, Budget Banner Screen Training, and Shadow System Training. All four trainings mentioned are presented monthly if you prefer a live virtual training, and all employees are welcome to attend.
