    Self-Care Group

    ?Calling all students who need some self-care!!?

    We are excited to announce our first Self-Care group! For the month of October, join us on Fridays from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. in the Eagle Resource Room (RUC 387) to learn about self-care and how to best engage in self-care practices. Believe it or not, you are worth taking care of. We can’t wait to help you learn how to protect your own well-being and happiness as the semester progresses.

    WEST Workshop: Brainstorming and Pre-Writing!

    Are you having trouble getting started on your midterm essay? Not sure how to turn your ideas into something coherent? Staring at a blank page for hours on end? WEST is here to help you! The Writing Excellence Studio at Tech will be hosting a workshop on dealing with brainstorming, and pre-writing. We will discuss strategies for organizing your ideas, for getting your thoughts down on paper, and ways to cope with the terrors of that empty white screen. Come join us during Dead Hour on Thursday, September 21, in Henderson Hall 304B. The workshop is open to all students, regardless of what stage you’re at in your writing.     Trauma Recovery Group September 22nd

    Are you struggling to work through unresolved trauma? Join our trauma recovery group to learn about the different ways trauma can affect us, develop techniques that may help in times of distress, as well as being a positive support for others who also struggle with the same experiences. This group will meet every Friday from 3:00pm-4:00pm in the Eagle Resource Room, RUC 387, starting September 22nd. Contact Tessa Benefield at tbenefield@tntech.edu if you’re interested.     Launchpad’s Success Series- Mastering College Connections

    Effective networking begins on day 1 of college, not at graduation! For first-year students, it can be hard to know how to get connected to the college campus. Yet, networking strategies are skills students take with them into their lives and careers. This workshop is geared toward first-year students to teach networking strategies that can immediately be applied.

    Join the Launchpad Student Success Center for Mastering College Connections, from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m, Thursday, Sept. 14 in Room 371 in the Roaden University Center.

    JDAG Artist Talk & Reception

    Join us in the Joan Derryberry Art Gallery this Thursday for artist, Deborah Kruger’s closing reception and artist talk. She will be speaking about the current body of work on display, titled Aviato, as well as her art practice which includes managing two art studios, one in Mexico and one in North Carolina. This event is free and open to the public, some come and enjoy the refreshments and artsy fellowship!!!

    This event will be Thursday, Sept. 14th at 5:00 p.m. in the Joan Derryberry Art Gallery, located in the lobby of the RUC, room 124.

  • October Revised Budget Revision Due Date

    All budget revisions needed to clean up indexes/accounts before October Revised Budget should be submitted for final review as follows: For administrative and academic units that require final signatures from the President’s Office or the Provost’s Office, please have your budget revisions submitted to these offices by Wednesday, September 20th in order for both offices to have time to review before the deadline to the Budget Office. The deadline for these budget revisions and all other budget revisions to be submitted to the Budget Office is Monday, September 25th.

We want to hear from you!

    Please encourage your students to attend the meetings held specifically for students. The next student town hall will be Monday, Sept. 18, at 2 p.m. in Bruner Hall 210.
