Tennessee Tech University Police says Choose the Crosswalk
Crosswalks are there for a reason—use them! When crossing the street, choose the crosswalk and stay alert. Make eye contact with drivers when possible, and don’t assume a vehicle sees you. A few extra steps can make all the difference. Choose the crosswalk. Choose safety.

Apply NOW for up to $20,000 in Grant Funding
The Rural Reimagined Faculty Grant Program offers TN Tech faculty members the opportunity to secure up to $20,000 in research funding to address rural challenges. All academic disciplines are encouraged to submit a proposal. The application window runs from Tuesday, September 1, 2026 through Friday, September 30, 2026, at 4:30 p.m.

TN Tech Police encourage pedestrians to know the laws
Pedestrians: Use the crosswalk. When crossing outside a crosswalk, you must yield to vehicles. Where pedestrian signals are provided, obey “WALK” and “DON’T WALK” indications.
Drivers: Yield to pedestrians in crosswalks when required, and never pass a vehicle stopped for a pedestrian.
Know the law. Share the road. Choose the crosswalk.

Free 6-Week Adult Swim Clinic
The Exercise Science Department is offering a free 6-week Adult Swim Clinic for faculty, staff and community members at the Memorial Gym Pool on Monday evenings at the beginning of the semester.
Three swim clinics will be offered based on ability, including a clinic for 1) triathletes/ advanced swimmers, 2) beginner/ intermediate swimmers and 3) phobic/ non-swimmers. Please email bwestrick@tntech.edu to register or for more information.

Tennessee Tech Police Department: Crosswalk Safety: Be Alert, Be Seen, Be Safe
In Tennessee, pedestrians have the right-of-way in marked crosswalks and at intersections—but safety is a shared responsibility. Always use crosswalks when available and obey pedestrian signals. Don’t suddenly step into traffic. Make eye contact with drivers before crossing. Drivers must yield to pedestrians in crosswalks and exercise due care to avoid collisions. Stay alert, heads up, phones down, and help keep everyone safe.
