Tech ASPIRES will be tabling at The Clothesline Project
On Tuesday April 5th, ASPIRES will be with the Tech Womens Center staff at The Clothesline Project in the RUC Pride Room from 10am-2pm and 4pm-7pm. Stop by our table and learn about the services that ASPIRES offers to survivors of sexual assault in the Tech community. This is an annual event designed to raise awareness for survivors of sexual assault and abuse. Witness and applaud these visual testimonies created by survivors of interpersonal violence from our campus and the local community while learning more about campus resources. Join the College of Business for the spring semester’s Tech Talk series! This program features faculty/staff that have extraordinary stories or experiences to share…or maybe a unique hobby or interest. We will feature a different guest speaker each session, giving each 17 mins to present and allowing time for discussion, questions, etc.
Real connections with the TN Tech family of faculty and staff are becoming increasingly important in student persistence efforts. As you explore and engage in transformational experiences on campus, why not come see a side of us that is both engaging and potentially transformational.

Meet the Tech Tomorrow faculty leaders: Tom Timmerman, Exceptional Stewardship
Tom Timmerman, professor and chair of the Department of Decision Sciences and Management in the College of Business, has been named the faculty leader for the Tech Tomorrow Exceptional Stewardship goal.
“Tennessee Tech is widely known for its great return-on-investment for students,” Timmerman said. “Our graduates receive well-paying jobs for the modest price they pay for a Tech education. I’m very proud of this reputation and believe that it is a key strategic strength of the university.
“So how do we maintain this strength? We must continue to provide high value to students through high-quality programs, faculty and services. But we must provide these things while also minimizing unnecessary costs. I’m happy to lead the Exceptional Stewardship Working Group in an effort to continuously find ways to provide value to our students while controlling costs. We have an outstanding group of faculty, administrators and students with great ideas for achieving this goal and I look forward to working with them.”
The previous leader for this goal was Ann Davis, professor of accounting in the College of Business.

Work Opportunity Available for SOLO Concert

The Spring 2022 SOLO concert will take place on Tuesday April 19th. Concert setup will begin on Monday, April 18th and last through Tuesday April 19th. Loadout will happen immediately after the show concludes into the early morning hours of April 20th.

> 9:00 AM-5:00 PM (estimated)
> Unload truck, set up stage and production (lights, audio, video)Tuesday the 19th

> Loadout immediately following the showPay
> New crew: $12/hr
> Experienced stage hand: $14/hrThis is manual labor requiring closed toed shoes and gloves to carry plywood. Heavy things are team lift.

Job opportunity – Student photographer needed!
The Center for Rural Innovation and the Eagle Works program is now hiring a student photographer for events and project-based work.
Applicants must be familiar with DSLR cameras, Lightroom, and Photoshop. Owning your own camera is NOT required, we can provide equipment.
The first event is Saturday, April 9 from 2-5 p.m.
Other opportunities include other events, product photography, headshots, and location shoots.
If you are interested and available on April 9, please email akruszka@tntech.edu and include several examples of your work. Pay starts at $12/hr with potential increases.

Important SGA Election Information
Elections for the Executive and Legislative Branch within the Student Government Association will occur in April.
The mission of the Student Government Association is to act as a channel for the expression of student opinion regarding the university, collaborate with administration to better student welfare, support student organizations, and foster community on campus.
SGA acts as a liaison between the university administration and students, strives to create a sense of community and campus involvement, provides a forum for the open expression of student opinions and ideas, and facilitates the creation of an atmosphere conducive to a high level of academic achievement.

Light the Night Fundraiser
Phi Epsilon Kappa, national fraternity for Exercise Science is hosting “Light the Night”, Thursday April 7th from 7:30-9:30 P.M. on the Quad.
This event is a glow walk to raise awareness of National Donate Life Month which was established in 2003. Observed in April each year, National Donate Life Month helps raise awareness about donation, encouraging Americans to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors and to honor those that have saved lives through the gift of donation. We are also raising funds in support of Mrs. Turnbow, PEK member and lecturer in Exercise Science, who received a liver donation in February. Free T-shirts to the first 250 students who present a Tech ID. Glow paint and bottled water are also free while supplies last. There will be concessions, several raffles for prizes—big and small—a photo booth, black lights, glow sticks, and more. This event is open to students, faculty, staff, and the public. All proceeds go to Mrs. Turnbow. We hope you can join us!

The Burnett Recreation and Fitness Center Personnel Changes
The Marc Burnett Recreation and Fitness Center is pleased to share the following new hires
Les Fralix has been promoted to the position of Associate Director for the MBRC. Les has been with the University since 2014.
Spencer Ryan recently accepted the position of Coordinator for Intramural Sports. Spencer has been with the University since 2017.
Mike Storch joined the MBRC team as a Student Center Section Supervisor in February. Mike is new to the University family.
We look forward to sharing future information with our campus community. Wings UP!

Annual Plant Sale
On Thursday March 31st the Plant Science Experience Club will be selling plants in the lobby of the RUC from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a variety of plants such as succulents and other indoor plants selling for $1-$10 to help raise money for the club. Please Join Alpha Phi Omega in Making Cards for Local Nursing Home Residents Tomorrow, Thursday March 31 at 6:00 pm next to Einstein’s Bagels. This is a great opportunity to create something to raise the spirits of these residents who are sadly often forgotten.
Alpha Phi Omega is Co-Ed Service Organization based on the Cardinal Principles of Leadership, Friendship, and Service. A few examples of what we do include: Blood Drives, Personal Care Product Drives, Relief Drives, Campus Cleanups, Nursing Home and Emergency Services Card Making, etc. We strive to embody the aforementioned Cardinal Principles in all that we do in order to help others, build lifelong friendships, and develop ourselves as professional individuals. Meet the Tech Tomorrow faculty leaders: Holly Anthony, Innovation in All We Do
Holly Anthony, professor of mathematics education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education, has been named the faculty leader for the Tech Tomorrow Innovation in All We Do goal.
“Strategic planning is key to moving an institution towards a future that is imagined but not yet fulfilled,” Anthony said. “I am excited to be invited to play a role in that movement. I have seen a number of really good ideas come to fruition in my tenure at Tech and I have seen other really good ideas get lost in the daily grind. It is my hope to bring life to ideas that will put Tech at the forefront of innovation in academia.
“Tech Tomorrow is a dynamic strategic plan that is powered by the people for whom it is most impactful: students, faculty, staff, and the university. It will be a privilege to meet with faculty and students, hear their ideas for innovation in all we do, and work to develop those ideas into initiatives and programs that guide us towards excellence.”
The previous leader for this goal was Jason Beach, associate professor of curriculum and instruction in the College of Education.
