Electronic 1095Cs Are Now Available Online
To review your Electronic 1095C – Log into TechExpress (https://express.tntech.edu). Select “Eagle” button from the Quicklinks area to go to Eagle Online. Select the Employee tab, and your 1095C is located under Tax Forms.
Paper 1095Cs were mailed February 28th for employees who did not consent to receiving the electronic version. Employees who wish to receive 1095Cs electronically in the future can select Electronic Regulatory Consent in Tech Express under Tax Forms.
We encourage employees to select Electronic Regulatory Consent as it reduces the risk of others obtaining your personal information through mail theft.

Dr. Carla Hurt Travels to Curacao to Assist in Filming a Documentary
Dr. Carla Hurt, Associate Professor in the Department of Biology, traveled to Curacao to assist National Geographic and Disney Plus, in obtaining footage of the Alpheus armatus (pistol shrimp) for a documentary on underdogs of the biological world.
Dr. Hurt and her collaborator from Seattle University, Kristin Hultgren, worked on location in Curacao with the film team Wildstar Films (United Kingdom) in January to film the pistol shrimp underwater and in an aquarium. The pistol shrimp received its common name from the loud snapping noise they make with their large claw. Alpheus armatus live in curly cue sea anemones and protect their anemone home from predators, such as fireworms. This trip was funded in part by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
The film group is also interested in generating a three-dimensional image of the claw to look at the snapping mechanism. Dr. Hurt and her team brought back claw samples to scan for the three-dimensional imaging and are hoping to work with the IMaker space on Tennessee Tech’s campus to obtain these scans.

Trauma Recovery Group
Are you struggling to work through unresolved trauma? Join our trauma recovery group to learn about the different ways trauma can affect us, develop techniques that may help in times of distress, as well as being a positive support for others who also struggle with the same experiences. This is a safe space. The Counseling Center will be hosting this group every Friday, starting on February 10, 2023, from 3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. in RUC 387. Tech cybersecurity student from Japan finds leadership, internship opportunities
Rumi Ujiie’s educational story has many chapters.
The Tennessee Tech grad student from Japan grew interested in computer science after being introduced to web application development her sophomore year at Komazawa University in Tokyo. Her story as a Golden Eagle started in 2018 when she came her junior year as an exchange student.
“I feel like Tennessee Tech is so diverse,” she said. “The people are so nice, and there’s always help when you need it.”
Since returning to Tech to pursue her graduate studies in 2021, Ujiie has served as a teaching assistant, researcher for CEROC and president of the Computer Science Graduate Student Club. In early 2022, she received the Kandy Thevar International Graduate Student Scholarship, which is awarded annually to an international student in the College of Engineering. A new chapter in her story was written this past summer – an internship at AllianceBernstein in Nashville. Read more

Tennessee Tech NAACP chapter president wins John C. Lewis Young Leadership Award
Tennessee Tech student Mark Rine received the John C. Lewis Young Leadership Award. He was recognized for individual and group efforts on the TTU campus and with the NAACP State Youth and College Division. “This has been the most rewarding and enlightening leadership position I have held, and I look forward to this continued bridging of gaps and necessary conversation. Our membership is rock solid and self-sacrificing. We are bold, fearless, confident, and well prepared.”

Pizza with Pre-Professionals
Phi Epsilon Kappa Exercise Science Fraternity is excited to offer a sit down personal student panel for students in Exercise Science.
Interested in learning on how to get into physical therapy, occupational therapy, physicians assistant, athletic training school, or any expw grad school? Come enjoy free pizza and a student panel with students that are going into these programs! Anyone interested in Exercise science is encouraged to come!
This event will take place on November 2nd at 5 pm in Memorial Gym Room 112 (walk in the front doors and to the right!)
All exercise science majors and anyone interested in switching in EXPW, or anyone planning to go into these programs but has a different major is welcome to come to get insight from students who have been accepted into these types of programs.
