  • Grading Rubrics Workshop Session

    Grading Rubrics Workshop Session

Grading rubrics are assessment tools to help instructors and students focus on the expectations of an assignment. While generic grading rubrics are plentiful, it is recommended that instructors use the course standards to build effective grading rubrics in order to determine the level of student success within each assignment. In addition to facilitating learning, rubrics can also help to make the grading of the assessments fair and consistent. This workshop will offer discussions on the practical consideration of using grading rubrics within a course and research-based practices for rubric design. It will also include a demonstration of constructing grading rubrics within iLearn and connecting them to the gradebook.

  • Course Alignment in an eLearning Environment

Course Alignment in an eLearning Environment

Course alignment is crucial for successful learning. If the content of a course does not align with the course objectives then chances are the objectives will not be met. When designing an online course, a lot of thought and planning should go into the structure. The desired outcome(s) of a course should be the primary focus in the design process. In this session we will discuss course alignment through learning objectives and assessment. We will outline a strategy for building alignment within your course and hopefully provide you with some information you can use when structuring your next eLearning offering.

  • Spring 2021 Commencement Ceremonies

Planning is underway for the Spring 2021 commencement ceremonies. We are excited to announce the change to two outdoor ceremonies in Tucker Stadium. Outdoor ceremonies help us meet several important expectations from graduates. Our May ceremonies must still follow COVID-19 safety protocol. Our number of spring graduates is so large, we would have to limit the number of guests if we stayed indoors. We would also have to hold ceremonies over a two-day period because of the capacity in Hooper Eblen Center under COVID-19 protocol. Commencement in Tucker Stadium allows us host ceremonies in a beautiful setting with plenty of room for family and friends.

Please note the date is now Friday, May 7. Ceremony times will be at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. All candidates are required to RSVP for their ceremony by April 19.

Please visit the website to RSVP for this ceremony and for updates and additional information.
