For just 100 years, women have had the right to vote. The Women’s Center and the Student Government Association will help everyone exercise their right to vote, with information about voter registration and absentee ballots. Check out our Voting Drive on September 3rd from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Centennial Plaza. Learn how to register to vote and register for an absentee ballot. Bring your driver’s license!

Are you interested in impacting surrounding rural areas through research, coursework, or student leadership? Then you should become involved with TN Tech’s Grand Challenge initiative, Rural Reimagined, which aims to transform rural communities through science, technology, and innovation. TN Tech’s wide array of departments and its location amongst several rural communities creates many opportunities for our students and faculty to participate in Rural Reimagined and impact rural living. If any faculty are working on a rural-based grant or are incorporating rural ideas or initiatives into your coursework, Rural Reimagined would like to recognize you! Co-op Meetup #1 is Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 11 a.m. in RUC Multipurpose Room

Are you interested in Co-op? Do you know if your Internship requires you to enroll in Co-op? Attend the first Co-op Meetup of the semester on Sept. 1 in the Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room (2nd floor) at 11 a.m.

Any student interested in accepting a Cooperative Education position with an employer MUST attend a Co-op Meetup. The Co-op Meetup will explain the current eligibility guidelines for enrolling in the Cooperative Education Program, which went into effect July 1, 2019 for all students. Pre-registration to enroll in the Co-op Program is now required and attending a Co-op Meetup is your first step! Congratulations to the Renaissance Foundry Research Group (RFRG) for receiving a VentureWell faculty grant, “BioFoundry Design: Leveraging Biomimicry to Advance Environmental and Social Sustainability Innovation in Prototypes Developed in Foundry-Guided Undergraduate Chemical Engineering Courses” (Dr. P. Arce, PI with Co-PIs: Drs. A. Arce-Trigatti, S. Jorgensen, and J.R. Sanders), which will positively impact rural areas. Through the Renaissance Foundry Model (RFM), focused on the development of the “holistic-style” engineering professional, students will adopt and adapt elements of Biomimicry to develop prototypes of innovative technology that are friendlier to the environment. Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Nineteenth Amendment and women’s right to vote at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 26, on Centennial Plaza (rain location Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room). Join the Women’s Center as we take part in the nationwide Forward Into Light Campaign where buildings across the country will light up in purple and gold (the colors of the Women’s Suffrage movement and Tech!) on this date. There will be displays, activities, snacks, and giveaways.
