Join the Women’s Center for a screening of Sisters Rising, a sixty-minute film followed by a short discussion led by Dr. Brian Williams of English. Sisters Rising is the story of six Native American women fighting to restore personal and tribal sovereignty in the face of ongoing sexual violence against Indigenous women in the United States. This is a free virtual screening on Monday, November 16, at 6 p.m. Register for an event invitation by 5pm on Nov. 16th here.

Join Project Awaken for a free workshop about journaling for self-care. The workshop will be held, TODAY, Monday, November 16th at 1 pm via Zoom.

This workshop will be led by Deanna Lack who is the lay minister at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Cookeville. All are welcome!

The Rural Reimagined Club and TAB is proud to announce our final Rural Journeys Speaker Series session for this semester. Our third virtual conversation will be on Tuesday, November 17th at 3pm. Mason Hilliard and Aaron Lay will be sharing their stories serving as leaders at Tennessee Tech. 

Mason is currently an admissions counselor in the Office of Admissions at Tennessee Tech. Born and raised in Greenfield, Weakley County, Tennessee, he graduated from Tech in Fall 2019 with a major in Political Science and a double minor in History and Communication Studies. He has served the Tech community as a Student Orientation Leader, President of the Student Government Association, and Student Trustee.

Aaron is a junior at Tennessee Tech from Madisonville, Tennessee, majoring in Agriculture Communications with a minor in Political Science. He currently serves as Student Body President in the Student Government Association. Upon graduating, he aspires to work in legislative affairs on Capitol Hill before going to law school to practice agriculture and environmental law.

Virtual Employer Spotlight featuring the Tennessee State Parks will host Session #1 on Monday, Nov. 16 from 3-4 pm and Session #2 on Tuesday, Nov. 17 from 11am – noon. Join recruiters as they share information about their Seasonal Interpretive Ranger positions! Seasonal Interpreter/Recreators (SIRs) provide interpretive programs for park guests such as guided tours, hikes, workshops, canoe floats, slide shows, demonstrations, campfires and other outdoor activities. They assist park rangers in the protection of natural and cultural features, and other resource management-related activities as assigned.

You are invited to join Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (oSTEM) and the Student Members of the American Chemical Society (SMACS) as we host a conversation with Shawn Zeringue-Krosnick, Ph.D., associate professor of biology about her experiences of being out in the STEM field. The presentation will be held via Zoom on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 5:30 p.m. All students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend. This event is inteneded to be a conversation about experiences that can provide advice and encouragement to LGBTQIA+ individuals, as well as allies.
