    Upcoming ARA Meeting: Addiction and Recovery Awareness @ 11am on October 19th via Zoom

    The Addiction and Recovery Awareness @ TN Tech (ARA) is a student-driven organization aimed at raising awareness of the use, abuse, and dependency of addictive substances and seeks to educate the community and provide resources and support for those in recovery through a variety of activities and peer support. The ARA Invites you to get involved in planning and promoting activities, educating the campus, and providing support for the TN Tech community. The second meeting of ARA is scheduled for 11:00am on Tuesday, October 19 via Zoom. There was a great turnout at the first meeting, and ARA would love to grow in membership.     Join the Center for Career Development on Thursday, Oct. 14, beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room (2nd floor) for this Purple Financial Planning workshop. This workshop will feature Harrison Myers from Northwestern Mutual, who will provide insight regarding how to plan a successful budget while starting your career!

    This event is open to all students in all majors and counts toward Part Two of the Purple Career Readiness application for junior and senior students. Bring your Eagle Card for a quick sign-in.

    NOTE: This event does not count toward Purple Career Readiness Workshop attendance in Part Three.

Garry Askew with Bauer Askew Architecture will be on campus Thursday October 21st 1:30-3:00 in Jere Whitson Auditorium and again on Tuesday November 16th 10:00-11:30 in Jere Whitson Auditorium to provide information.

    Did you accept a co-op or long-term internship at the Engineering / STEM Fair? Do you know if you are Co-op Eligible? Find out how YOU can be Co-op eligible! Attend this Co-op Meetup on Thursday, Oct. 14, in Clement Hall 212 at 11 a.m. Any student interested in accepting a Cooperative Education position with an employer MUST attend a Co-op Meetup.

    The Co-op Meetup will explain the eligibility guidelines for enrolling in the Cooperative Education Program, which went into effect July 1, 2019 for all students.  Pre-registration to enroll in the Co-op Program is now required and attending a Co-op Meetup is your first step!  The new eligibility guidelines can be found at: https://www.tntech.edu/career/students/coop-eligibility.php.

    ALICE Fall Hike and Lunch

    All Ladies in Civil Engineering (ALICE) will be hosting a Fall Hike and Group Lunch at Bee Rock on Saturday, Oct. 23, at 10:00 am. All ladies who are majoring in Civil Engineering or who would like to major in Civil Engineering are welcome to attend. We will be carpooling, so please meet at the gravel parking lot across from Sherlock Park at 9:30 am. A group lunch will follow where everyone can mingle and get to know one another. ALICE will not be covering lunch so please bring money.

    Creepy Crawly STEM Fab Friday (3rd-8th Grade)

    Join us for Creepy Crawly STEM Fab Friday (3rd-8th Grade) at the Oakley STEM Center on Friday, October 15, 2021, from 5:00-8:00 PM.

    What was that shadow on the floor? Did you hear a knocking on the door? Was that a chill down your back? This STEM night fun is right on track!

    STEM Fab Friday events are focused on getting families and their children engaged in STEM activities. There are two regularly scheduled events each semester held on Fridays from 5-8 pm. We look forward to having families enjoy time together while exploring new STEM concepts through hands-on activities.

    A parent or guardian is expected to attend with the student(s). Students may not be left unattended.

    Masks are required to attend this event as per Tennessee Tech University Policy. This event is spread out over a longer period of time and will have fewer stations than previous events in an effort to allow for some distancing.

    Hand sanitizer will be available at all stations and items will be wiped after each use by volunteers.

    PTC Live Speaker from NBC

    On Thursday, October 14th, at 11:00, the Tennessee Tech Professional and Technical Communications Club is hosting a live speaker over Zoom. The speaker, Jenny Smith, is a marketing director at the NBC affiliate in Memphis and will speak to Tech students about possible jobs and internships in broadcasting. She has been assigned to a committee to find out ways to effectively recruit college students for TV broadcasting.  Jenny’s presentation will cover several topics relating to the TV broadcasting industry including marketing, engineering, sales, and news. The topics Jenny will cover are applicable to almost any major. Jenny’s presentation is not merely informational, as she is currently searching for new interns and employees. Attend and you may find a new, exciting job. After Jenny’s presentation students will have the opportunity to ask any questions they may have.
