    The College of Education Spring Career Fair is 2 weeks away! Come see us on the third floor of the Roaden University Center to get your resume reviewed! Our staff can also share tips on how to navigate a career fair, how to dress, and what to say in your elevator pitch. Our walk-in hours are Monday-Thursday 1-4pm, or you can schedule an appointment on Handshake!

    Do you want to be visible to employers before the fair? Then please pre-register and be sure to follow companies you are interested in!     Support the Women’s Center student programs by attending a fabulous evening celebrating women’s fashion, told from the point of view of feminist history by Dr. Hannah Uphole. Experience a fashion show featuring pieces from Tech’s Historical Costume Collection, and walk the red carpet yourself, donning *that outfit* that you’ve needed a chance to wear. Dinner included. Join us to share in the power of fashion!

    Ticket’s will be sold at the door for $50.00 or sold online for $40.00 (emailed link to follow).

    Join the Center for Career Development on Tuesday, Mar. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in The Hoop for the Annual Spring Engineering Fair. ALL majors and ALL students (freshman to alumni) are invited to discuss career opportunities with over 150 employers! These opportunities include co-op, internship, and full-time positions!

    Don’t forget to bring plenty of copies of your resume!

    Students should come dressed to impress and have their Eagle Card to obtain a personalized name tag. This event counts towards Gold and Purple Career Readiness Certification!

    Career Fairs are a NO BACKPACK ZONE, so please leave it in your car or room.

    This Wednesday, join the virtual discussion for a Reddit-style Ask Me Anything! This is your chance to ask your questions about the competition to a former winner, a past judge, and Eagle Works staff! Find out what was most helpful leading up to the finalist round with our 2019 winner, Miscellaneous Men, and ask past preliminary and finalist round judge David Darnell what makes a team stand out!

    This is the last workshop before we switch to pitch practices and work sessions, so don’t miss it!

    Workshop starts at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8.

    Support Your Local Freedom School on Sunday, March 26

    On March 26 from 2pm – 6pm please join the College of Education for a casual afternoon at The Putnam Room, a long-time Freedom School Partner, on Cookeville’s historic courthouse square.

    Enjoy a selection of fine wine, craft beer, sangria, a stunning cocktail buffet, and more. For planning purposes, reservations are required. The cost is $75 per person. Attendees may arrive at their leisure; a 21 and over event.

    The event kicks off support for this summer’s Elinor Ross CDF Freedom School, a free six-week literacy and cultural enrichment initiative serving Putnam Co. kids in grades 1st – 5th whose families qualify for free/reduced lunch programs.

    Naval Surface Warfare Center (NAVSEA) Information Session – March 6th at 5:00pm

    Are you interested in working with Intelligent Automation and/or Hypersonic Weapons Advancement? If so, don’t miss the NAVSEA Information Session prior to the Annual Spring Engineering Fair. Join them on Monday, Mar. 6, in Brown Hall, room 236 from 5 to 7:00 p.m. FREE pizza will be provided!

    The NAVSEA Warfare Centers hire scientists and engineers in many disciplines to perform research and development into surface and undersea weapons systems. They are now creating the technology that will underlie naval warfare in the coming decades.

    NAVSEA solves difficult problems for the Navy and joint forces. They invent, develop, acquire, and test combat systems and equipment to provide superior technology to defeat current and future threats across many different and complex environments. They continually seek to improve their ships, systems, and related technologies.

    Everyone is welcome, even non-book-club members! But instead of book club this month, we’re meeting with the author of our book(!!!) for lessons about writing our own stories, with some practical strategies to start finding our own voice. The picture at right is Nolan with new incredible tattoos, depicting peony and laurel on her “writing arm.”

    Book club people: read the next four essays for our sessions with Nolan (75-147).
