    Distress Protocol Workshop

    All Academic Affairs faculty and staff are invited to join the Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence (CAFÉ) and the Tennessee Tech University Counseling Center for a workshop on the student distress protocol on Tuesday, September 26th from 3-4:30 PM in RUC 101, Tech Pride Room.

    The Tennessee Tech University Counseling Center is committed to providing resources to ensure that a student in crisis is responded to quickly, responsibly, and in an empathetic manner. A distressed student may also display disruptive behaviors, which may be covered by student conduct policy, and not be addressed directly by this protocol. This protocol is designed to provide guidance to the campus community. It defines how to:

        • Ensure a coordinated crisis response and review process.
        • Recognize the signs that a student may be in distress.

    Establish a consistent framework for responding to the student in distress.

    Tech Talk: Study Abroad Showcase

    The College of Business is excited to announce that its Tech Talk Series will kick off Sept. 21st in Foundation Hall 238 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. This series edition will focus on the College’s Study Abroad programs. The talk will be hosted by Dr. Richard Rand and Dr. Jaime Williams and will have student testimonials about their study abroad experiences. This event will be in celebration and honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. All are welcome to join us for a great evening to hear from some of our very own Tech family who will share their stories in an engaging conversation with the audience. Our featured panelists for the evening will be Dr. Pedro Arce, Professor and University Distinguished Faculty Fellow in the Department of Chemical Engineering; Dr. Mari Ramler, Associate Professor in the Department of English, and students Bryan Morales and Maria Camacho.     The NAVSEA Warfare Centers hire scientists and engineers in many disciplines to perform research and development into surface and undersea weapons systems. They are now creating the technology that will underlie naval warfare in the coming decades.

    NAVSEA solves difficult problems for the Navy and joint forces. They invent, develop, acquire, and test combat systems and equipment to provide superior technology to defeat current and future threats across many different and complex environments.
