Please join the Department of Biology for a fun community event on October 28 from 9-3, where volunteers will help the TN Tech Native Plant Garden prepare for upcoming construction by transplanting plants for safekeeping. Volunteers will be able to obtain free plants for their own gardens in return for assisting us. Kids crafts, hot apple cider, baked goods, botanical art, and other demonstrations will be available throughout the day.  The garden is located in between Johnson and Pennebaker Halls on campus. Our digital devices are sources of information and entertainment, they allow us to stay in touch with
friends and family. But that’s not all. Smartphones and social media are linked to increased rates of depression, anxiety and loneliness. Even those who avoid mental health problems say their online experience leaves them “in some kind of spiritual and intellectual haze.”

In this talk, Samuel James will help us understand how the internet affects us. He will show how Scripture offers wisdom for habits of resistance to the allures of our digital devices.

Samuel James is an editor for Crossway Books. He has written for The Wall Street Journal, National
Review, Time, First Things, and The Gospel Coalition. He and his family live in Louisville, Kentucky.

This workshop is designed to help foster better group collaboration and team awareness. Participants will be able to identify individual strengths that help with team engagement, improve your experience on a team, and improve the overall team outcome. Participants will learn strategies for addressing team conflict and leave with increased confidence working within a group.
