    Join Lila Windsor, at the opening of her thesis exhibition on Nov. 21 at the Appalachian Center for Craft.  Exhibition in the Hilltop Gallery is the culmination of Lila’s senior year as a Fiber’s concentration student in the School of Art, Craft, and Design. The public is invited to an opening reception on Nov. 23 from 4-7pm.

    Holiday Festival Woodturning Workshop at ACC

    Learn the basics of woodturning in this upcoming Holiday Festival workshop! Whether you’re new to woodturning, or looking for a fun project to refresh your skills, this workshop is for you! We will cover the fundamentals of woodturning, from lathe safety and proper turning technique to shaping, sanding and finishing. Participants will start by practicing basic spindle turning and will then move on to designing and creating their own functional bottle openers, from start to finish.   • Art Round TN First Friday at the UC

    Art Round TN First Friday at the UC

    Art Round Tennessee’s final First Friday of the year will be held on Oct 4th, 5pm-8pm, in the lobby of the University Center. Seven local artists will be selling their artwork along with live music featuring a student ensemble from Tech’s school of music. This event will also feature an in memorium of Tech alum, Jesse Filoteo. Jesse’s work will be for sale with the proceeds going to help establish a scholarship in his name. The Joan Derryberry Art Gallery will also be open for viewing of the current Fiber exhibit by Rachel Meginness.

  • Bryan Symphony Concert Season

    The Bryan Symphony Orchestra at Tennessee Tech welcomes Chilean pianist Paulina Zamora as guest soloist to kick off the 2024-25 concert season Sunday, October 6th, at 3p.m. A performance of Carlos Chavez’s Sinfonia India will honor Hispanic Heritage Month and composer Robert Jager, Emeritus Professor, will be feted with performances of two of his works in honor of his 85th birthday year. The program also includes works by Mendelssohn and Schumann. Tickets may be purchased at www.bryansymphony.org or before the concert. Box Office opens at 1pm.

    Rug Weaving Workshop at the Appalachian Center for Craft

    Transform leftover scraps of fabric into your very own rag rug during this fun and creative workshop! We will cover the basics of weaving, working with different types of fabric and learning how to cut and combine them for rag rug weaving. You will learn to warp and weave your rug on a peg loom and experiment with other ways to create with a loom. Oct. 5, 2024
