  • Changes to parking payroll deductions

    Based on the feedback of the Staff Advisory Committee, the university is making improvements to how payroll deductions for parking are processed. Beginning this fall, parking deductions will be applied over nine months to help spread out the cost for employees, provide greater predictability, and avoid larger lump sum deductions.

    This change does not require any action on employees’ part at this time and permits will still remain valid from August 16th to August 15th of the following year. Employees making an online parking permit selection in the fall will see a change this next year.

    Alternatively, faculty and staff may pay for parking with a personal check or credit card. However, in these cases, full payment for these methods is required at the time of selection.

    Benefited employees earning less than $30,000 annually (gross) will be eligible for a parking subsidy for the purple lot only which will reduce the out-of-pocket cost to $20 for the year.   • New Director of Auxiliaries!

    We are excited to announce the arrival of our new Director of Auxiliaries, Nick Dolata on May 15th . He comes to us from Vanderbilt and has extensive experience in dining services. Please join us in welcoming Mr. Dolata to campus!

  • Professional Privilege Tax 2023

    Under TCA 67-4-1709, the professional privilege tax is due June 1 each year for individuals licensed or registered to practice in Tennessee for the following professions:

    Attorney
    Agent(Securities)
    Broker-Dealer
    Investment Adviser
    Lobbyist

    For those so licensed, Tennessee Tech University will remit this for you. The amount of tax will be included as additional compensation on each affected employee’s W-2. If you are registered or licensed to practice in more than one of the following professions, you are only required to pay the $400 tax once per year.

    TTU must report to the Department of Revenue the names and professions of eligible employees no later than June 1, 2023. Those eligible must currently be in an active status in their profession.

    Please provide the names and professions of anyone in your area of responsibility to Dustin Agee at dagee@tntech.edu or Jenni Roberts at jaroberts@tntech.edu at your earliest convenience, but not later than May 15, 2023. I will compile a master list to transmit to the State.

  • Student Absence Notifications via Maxient

    Student Absence Notifications via Maxient

    A new electronic process for delivering student absence notifications is now in place. If a student absence notification request is approved, the student’s faculty will receive a notice via email with a link to the absence memorandum.

    Please note these emails originate from notifications@maxient.com. Student Affairs has worked with ITS to ensure these communications bypass Tech’s email filters so they will not appear in clutter or junk folders. The Maxient emails will contain the following:

      • Subject line “Student Affairs Absence Notification,”

     

      • Body text indicating the emails are official correspondence from the Student Affairs Office, and

     

      Branded with the Student Affairs seal.

  • Budget Office – Training Recordings Now Available

    The Budget Office is happy to announce that we are now offering recorded training sessions on our homepage for the Position Control Budget Training and the Budget Banner Screen Training. These trainings will still continue to be presented monthly, but the recordings will be an additional resource available to campus. Since the General Budget Training is required for signature authority on budget revisions, it will not be offered as a recorded session. The Shadow System Training will be recorded and will be added to the homepage later this year. The Budget Office is committed to value creation and strives to create a supportive environment.
