  • Budget Training Sessions for September

    September budget trainings are now scheduled for anyone who is interested in attending. Please click here to register for a virtual session. Recorded trainings are also available on our homepage in addition to the monthly training dates, please click here to view our recorded sessions. Please note the General Budget Training is the only required training needed for signature authority on budget revisions, and is not available as a recorded session, you must register to attend. Recorded trainings include Position Control Budget Training, Budget Banner Screen Training, and Shadow System Training. All four trainings mentioned are presented monthly if you prefer a live virtual training, and all employees are welcome to attend.     Tech launches new podcast: “College Town Talk”

    Tennessee Tech has launched a new podcast in partnership with the Cookeville-Putnam County Visitors Bureau titled “College Town Talk.” Each week, hosts Jonathan Frank and Shan Stout introduce listeners to Tech faculty, staff and students – as well as successful Tech alumni, local business owners and civic leaders – who are making a difference and living Wings Up in their community. 

    Episodes 1 and 2 are now available, featuring interviews with Cookeville Mayor Laurin Wheaton, Tech Chief Diversity Officer Dr. Rob Owens, Tech Director of Athletics Mark Wilson, and Soul Craft Coffee owner Anna Dunn. Listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Pandora, Google Podcasts and other podcast platforms. Episodes can also be streamed at www.tntech.edu/collegetowntalk.

This forum presents a wonderful opportunity for our community to engage with Dr. Liu and gain valuable insights into his vision and plans for our research and economic development at Tech.

  • Budget Office Deadline

    Good afternoon everyone,

    Just a reminder that all carryover requests are due to the budget office by 7-31-23. 

    Here are the accounts/indexes that do not require a memo and the budget office will  automatically review and add to the list for consideration for funding (depending on the dollars available):

      1. Any current Fee indexes (SAF, Online Fee)
      2. Any Revenue and Expense offset (Any indexes that are directly tied to a fee IE.  Farm, Stem workshop, lab manuals)
      3. Indirect Cost, Match, Fixed Rate Contracts, Faculty Research
      4. Lapse Salary Pools
      5. Engineering $3M
      6. Summer School Indexes

    Open Purchase Orders

    Restricted Indexes will automatically carryover.  This process usually happens in September for restricted indexes.

    Any other accounts will require a carryforward memo to be submitted.  The carryovers that are approved will be communicated during the October Revised Budget Cycle in early October.

  • Changes to parking payroll deductions

    Based on the feedback of the Staff Advisory Committee, the university is making improvements to how payroll deductions for parking are processed. Beginning this fall, parking deductions will be applied over nine months to help spread out the cost for employees, provide greater predictability, and avoid larger lump sum deductions.

    This change does not require any action on employees’ part at this time and permits will still remain valid from August 16th to August 15th of the following year. Employees making an online parking permit selection in the fall will see a change this next year.

    Alternatively, faculty and staff may pay for parking with a personal check or credit card. However, in these cases, full payment for these methods is required at the time of selection.

    Benefited employees earning less than $30,000 annually (gross) will be eligible for a parking subsidy for the purple lot only which will reduce the out-of-pocket cost to $20 for the year.
