The Writing Excellence Studio at Tech (WEST) is open for the semester! We provide one-on-one writing consultation for upper-level undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty, regardless of what field or writing you’re working on. We can work with you on things like clarity, cohesion, logical progression, or just making sure you’re doing what the assignment asks you to do in the most effective way possible. Student Engagement ALC
More than ever before, college and university instructors are faced with a challenge of student engagement. In the traditional face-to-face classroom, instructor questions are often met with silence. In the online classroom, student passivity is revealed in a variety of ways: silence in Zoom video conferencing, lack of iLearn login, failure to submit assignments and limited words in a discussion board threads.
There are many suggested ways to encourage active participation in the higher ed classroom, face-to-face and online. This ALC will share some research that shows the results of student engagement activities along with effective methods for enhancing student engagement in your courses.

ATTENTION GRADUATE STUDENTS: Graduation Application Deadline
In addition to satisfying all degree requirements, a candidate for a degree must file an Application for Graduation at the beginning of the semester in which the degree is expected to be conferred.
The last date for the filing of the application for fall 2020 graduation is September 7, 2020. Fall 2020 Graduation Application
A graduate student shall be enrolled during the term in which the degree is awarded. If a student applies for graduation but fails to satisfy graduation requirements, the student must reapply.

$600 STEM Stipend for Science Olympiad Program
Don’t miss out on this great year-long program with a focus on professional development and K-12 outreach. The program will recruit 20 undergraduate students who will gain skills that positively impact both their academic success and the communities they serve while working towards the goal of coordinating next year’s Regional Science Olympiad. Participants will receive a $600 stipend for their participation in this year-long program.
Science Olympiad competitions are like academic track meets, consisting of a series of team events. By combining events from all disciplines, Science Olympiad encourages a wide cross-section of students to get involved.
