  • Immediate Needs for Volunteer Reception Center in Waverly, TN

    Emergency Items Needed to begin the general clean up are as follows:

      • Flat Shovels
      • Brooms
      • Rakes
      • Floor Squeegees

    Bring items to RUC 119

    Our very own, Don Sowers, Interdisciplinary Studies, is on the ground for TN Tech and is running the volunteer reception site for general volunteers.  He has requested these items and we would love to be able to drive some of these items over to him on Friday.  They will be used by volunteers for week and months to come.

    Team Rubicon is on site as of 2pm today will begin getting clearance for volunteers to come in and begin mucking out the houses.  They are assessing the site and ordering in the supplies they will need to get the job done.  For more information on volunteering with them, go to their website: https://teamrubiconusa.org/

    If you are unable to volunteer doing manual labor, maybe you would like to help cook, feeding volunteers and victim through an organization called Mercy Chef.  Ms. Lisa Saylor would love your help.  Contact Michelle Huddleston at volunteer@tntech.edu to be put in contact with Lisa.

    Tech graduate’s love for libraries and theatre leads to estate gift

    Scott Muir, `77 speech and theatre, always knew he wanted to be a librarian and fell in love with libraries long before he enrolled at Tennessee Tech.  Thanks to a generous estate gift, Muir’s love for libraries and theatre will ensure future generations of Tech students have access to the areas that were so important to Muir during his time at Tech.

    Muir said he was inspired by Henry “Hank” Rowan, an American engineer and philanthropist who, in the early 90s, made a $100 million gift to Glassboro State University, a tiny school in South Jersey. Rowan’s act of extraordinary generosity launched one of the greatest explosions in educational philanthropy, and his story has been featured in numerous articles including Malcolm Gladwell’s Revisionist History podcast titled “My Little Hundred Million.” Glassboro State was renamed Rowan University in Rowan’s honor.

    Muir held seven progressively-responsible library positions throughout his career and retired from Rowan University as the associate provost responsible for three Rowan University libraries.

    Faculty Success Story: Dr. Mike Gotcher Receives Grant to Provide Free Wifi Access to Rural Students

    Rural Reimagined recognizes Dr. Mike Gotcher for his recent success in receiving a grant to provide 200 TN Tech students in rural counties with free, unlimited Wifi access. Students living in rural areas frequently struggle to establish much needed Wifi access needed to complete assignments, attend Zoom lectures, or be able to download course content. The grant will go a long way in helping students meet their educational needs. Dean Gotcher states, “We wanted to address the digital divide and help students succeed academically. The grant provides a much-needed resource for our students.”  Interested students can contact Dylcia Cowan at  dcowan@tntech.edu to obtain the form needed to receive hot spots. Students are also welcomed to drop in at Southwest Hall, Room 141A between the hours of 8:00 am-4:30pm.     Purple Career Readiness Workshop on Aug. 26: What do Employers Look for

    Join the Center for Career Development on Thursday, Aug. 26, beginning at 11 a.m. in the Roaden University Center Multipurpose Room (2nd floor) for the first Purple Career Readiness Workshop of the semester! A panel of employers from Enterprise, Eastman Chemical, Aphena Pharma and Flex-Tek will share their tips and advice on how to impress a potential company after graduating college.

    This event is open to all students in all majors and counts towards the Purple Career Readiness Certificate for junior and senior students. Bring your Eagle Card for a quick sign-in.

To receive credit for attending, you must log in with your Tennessee Tech email, participate if asked to during the workshop and be present for at least 80% of the presentation, and make sure that your camera is turned on during your attendance.

  • Spring 2022 Graduation Application Deadline

    The deadline to apply for graduation (undergraduates) for Spring 2022 is September 1.  If you are intending to complete your degree is Spring 2022 and have not yet applied for graduation, you can apply directly from your Degree Works audit!  You can access your degree audit by clicking on the DegWork link in Tech Express.
