  • An Evening with author Gish Jen

An Evening with author Gish Jen

3/23 at 7.00 pm in Bell Hall Auditorium, Centerstage is hosting author Gish Jen.

    https://www.tntech.edu/centerstage

A true Renaissance woman, Jen explores our changing world in her nonfiction as well. In The Girl at the Baggage Claim: Explaining the East-West Culture Gap, Jen offers a provocative and essential look at the different ideas Eastern and Western cultures have about self and society. Drawing on personal experience, a wealth of illuminating anecdotes, and insights from cultural psychology, Jen enriches our understanding of ourselves and our world. Writing in The Washington Post, novelist Lisa See observed Gish Jen has once again taken the universal and made it personal, and vice versa.”

Nobody’s having more fun with American diversity than Gish Jen.

  • Tennessee Tech celebrates Charter Day March 27

Tennessee Tech celebrates Charter Day March 27

Sunday is Tennessee Tech’s Charter Day!

On March 27, 1915, a group of local officials came together to establish an institution of higher education in Cookeville. From Dixie College to Tennessee Polytechnic Institute to Tennessee Tech University, the place we fondly call “Tech” has come a long way in 107 years.

March 27 celebrates the 10,500 students who currently attend Tech. It celebrates the 80,000 alumni who call Tech their alma mater. It celebrates the 1,100 faculty and staff who dedicate their careers to helping students. It celebrates all the ways in which the City of Cookeville embraces the university. And it celebrates Tennessee Tech, a place that has changed so many lives.

Thank you, Tennessee Tech. Happy Charter Day.
