    Welcome back to school everyone! Your TTU Student Nurses’ Association is kicking off the semester with another Blood Drive on February 2nd (Tuesday) on the quad. Everyone who donates blood gets a free T-shirt and other goodies (snacks and drinks provided as well). The link to signup for a time slot is below. Pre-registration is NOT required to donate blood, but it will make the process go much faster!

    Save the Date (Feb 1!) for An Evening with Alex Jenny, The Drag Therapist

    Join Center Stage, the Women’s Center and Project Awaken for “An Evening with Alex Jenny, the Drag Therapist” on Monday, February 1st at 6 P.M.! This event is free and open to everyone. Register for the event by 5 pm on February 1st here to get the Zoom information.

    Alex Jenny is a Chicago-based trauma therapist and drag queen known as The Drag Therapist. She is a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in trauma recovery, identity development, gender affirming care, and changing our relationships to our younger selves. Her drag and art focuses on uplifting and celebrating trans people of color and more specifically trans women and trans feminine people of color. Most recently, she hosts a show called The Moment, part drag show, part talk show, that celebrates trans artists. She has been engaged in community organizing, activism, and social justice education for over a decade. We hope you will join us as we learn from Alex about her life, her work and her passions!

    The Student Government Association recognizes the importance of addressing the mental health of Tennessee Tech students. The Mental Health Matters initiative seeks to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health by openly engaging in dialogue about the topic and encouraging students to take advantage of the many free resources offered by the Counseling Center.   • John Smith Named Associate Vice President of University Development

    John Smith Named Associate Vice President of University Development

    On July 1, 2020, University Advancement named John Smith as interim associate vice president of University Development. As of January 1, 2021, Smith has permanently accepted the associate vice president position and will continue to provide long-term strategic leadership for the university’s philanthropic needs; offer day-to-day leadership of the Development Team; and serve as a thought partner to deans, chairpersons and other academic leaders. Previously, Smith served as the executive director of University Advancement and has 25 years of experience in relationship building, fundraising and advancement policy. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in computer science and a Master of Business Administration Degree, both from Tennessee Tech.
