Join the Center for Career Development on Wednesday October 19, beginning at 3p.m. in the Roaden University Center in the Tech Pride Room for this Gold Career Readiness Workshop! Alex Callis, Assistant Director, from the Center for Career Development will be describing the qualities of a strong, foundational resume.
This event is open to all students in all majors and counts towards the Gold Career Readiness Certificate for freshman and sophomore students. Bring your Eagle Card for a quick sign-in.

2021-2022 Wings Up 100: University Administration
The following researcher in university administration has been inducted into the 2021-2022 Wings Up 100.
- Michael Aikens, director, Tennessee Center for Rural Innovation
The 2021-2022 Wings Up 100 roster is an elite group of 36 Tech researchers who brought in at least $100,000 in external funding for their research and activities during 2021-2022.
Congratulations to these researchers who helped Tech set a new high in external funding.

Please join us, Thursday, October 20, for two events featuring novelist Michael James Rizza.
“Writing Stories: Engaging your Reader through Plot”

Michael James Rizza looks at the different elements of plot and how they work together to grab your readers’ interest and keep them turning pages. All are invited.
Rizza’s debut novel, Cartilage and Skin, was chosen as winner of the Starcherone Fiction Prize and won a silver medal in the Foreword Best of the Indies in the Thriller/Suspense category. He is an Associate Professor of Creative Writing at Eastern New Mexico University.

Presbyterian Student Association Fall Celebration Cookout!!
We are the Presbyterian Student Association at Tennessee Tech and we are a part of the National UKirk campus ministry organization.
We are hosting our annual fall cookout October 18th at 6pm. We’ll be hanging out at our ministry house located at 629 N Cedar Ave across from Cooper/Dunn dorms. We usually have an annual cookout each fall semester to kick-off the school year. This year we decided to wait until it cooled off.
We will be serving hamburgers, hotdogs, popcorn & other yummy treats. We’ll have cornhole and other games too. We hope you will all join us in food and fellowship to celebrate this semester.
Anyone & everyone is welcome here!! We are an inclusive community offering students at Tennessee Tech support, fellowship, and safe space for critical reflection on questions of faith.

Tech Archives invites you to celebrate National Archives Month by attending a class on Preservation Basics. The University Archivist will discuss basic preservation of physical formats followed by a short Q&A session and a tour of the facility. PSYCH FRIGHT NIGHT
Tennessee Tech’s PSI CHI and Psychology club will be hosting a fundraiser to support, We will be doing a haunted, paranormal tour of Mathews Daniels hall on October thirteenth starting at 6:30 P.M. with Professor Doug. Tickets will be sold at the door of Mathews Daniels for $5, and all proceeds will go to psychology students participating in the Association for psychology of science research convention. Success Story: Eagle Works 2022 Maker Challenge
On October 6, the Eagle Works Maker Challenge introduced 25 students to the Innovation & Entrepreneurship initiative. Students were divided into teams and challenged with: “If you were stranded on a deserted island, how would you either survive or escape it?” Using materials like PVC pipe, duct tape, Play-Doh, and coffee filters, the teams had one hour to design, create, and present a prototype. Students received giveaway items, food, t-shirts, and $50 scholarships for prize categories including “Most likely to be on Survivor” and “Most inspirational karaoke opportunity.” Rural Outreach Coordinator Andrea Kruszka says, “Eagle Works is for students across campus. We encourage interdisciplinary teams since that is the reality of life post-graduation.” The Maker Challenge kicks off an exciting year of Eagle Works activities!
