Best Practices Across Course Modalities
Are you familiar with the course delivery methods available at Tennessee Tech? Join the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning on Tuesday, March 7th at 11 AM. the CITL Instructional Designers will review the three course modalities: Tech-Direct (Online), Tech-Flex (Hybrid), and Tech-Enhanced (On-Ground). Designers will discuss overall best practices for communication, engagement, assessment, and content. Eagle Works AMA: Get your questions answered by a past winner and a former judge
This Wednesday, join the virtual discussion for a Reddit-style Ask Me Anything! This is your chance to ask your questions about the competition to a former winner, a past judge, and Eagle Works staff! Find out what was most helpful leading up to the finalist round with our 2019 winner, Miscellaneous Men, and ask past preliminary and finalist round judge David Darnell what makes a team stand out!
This is the last workshop before we switch to pitch practices and work sessions, so don’t miss it!

Support Your Local Freedom School on Sunday, March 26
On March 26 from 2pm – 6pm please join the College of Education for a casual afternoon at The Putnam Room, a long-time Freedom School Partner, on Cookeville’s historic courthouse square.
Enjoy a selection of fine wine, craft beer, sangria, a stunning cocktail buffet, and more. For planning purposes, reservations are required. The cost is $75 per person. Attendees may arrive at their leisure; a 21 and over event.
The event kicks off support for this summer’s Elinor Ross CDF Freedom School, a free six-week literacy and cultural enrichment initiative serving Putnam Co. kids in grades 1st – 5th whose families qualify for free/reduced lunch programs.

Budget Office – Training Recordings Now Available
The Budget Office is happy to announce that we are now offering recorded training sessions on our homepage for the Position Control Budget Training and the Budget Banner Screen Training. These trainings will still continue to be presented monthly, but the recordings will be an additional resource available to campus. Since the General Budget Training is required for signature authority on budget revisions, it will not be offered as a recorded session. The Shadow System Training will be recorded and will be added to the homepage later this year. The Budget Office is committed to value creation and strives to create a supportive environment. Naval Surface Warfare Center (NAVSEA) Information Session – March 6th at 5:00pm
Are you interested in working with Intelligent Automation and/or Hypersonic Weapons Advancement? If so, don’t miss the NAVSEA Information Session prior to the Annual Spring Engineering Fair. Join them on Monday, Mar. 6, in Brown Hall, room 236 from 5 to 7:00 p.m. FREE pizza will be provided!
The NAVSEA Warfare Centers hire scientists and engineers in many disciplines to perform research and development into surface and undersea weapons systems. They are now creating the technology that will underlie naval warfare in the coming decades.
NAVSEA solves difficult problems for the Navy and joint forces. They invent, develop, acquire, and test combat systems and equipment to provide superior technology to defeat current and future threats across many different and complex environments. They continually seek to improve their ships, systems, and related technologies.

Book Club 2: Writing Workshop with Savala Nolan and the Women’s Center

Everyone is welcome, even non-book-club members! But instead of book club this month, we’re meeting with the author of our book(!!!) for lessons about writing our own stories, with some practical strategies to start finding our own voice. The picture at right is Nolan with new incredible tattoos, depicting peony and laurel on her “writing arm.”
Book club people: read the next four essays for our sessions with Nolan (75-147).

Academic Bowl in Derryberry Hall on March 2
Please welcome students and coaches to campus for the annual WCTE Academic Bowl on Thursday, March 2! The academic bowl is a time for students from Middle Tennessee to come together to compete on Tech’s campus and have some fun with their academic skills. While not open to the public, the WCTE Academic Bowl will be livestreamed on WCTE.org and WCTE’s Facebook page.

Awards are based on job performance, attitude toward University constituencies, commitment and service to the University, professional development and suggestions for program improvements. The General Education Award for Outstanding Teaching is awarded to a full-time or part-time faculty member, instructor, or graduate teaching assistant for outstanding instruction in a general education course. Any student, faculty member, administrator, or recent graduate may nominate a teacher for this award. Two winners are selected each year to receive a plaque or certificate and a monetary award. The Student Leadership Awards program, sponsored by the Student Government Association, seeks to strengthen students’ sense of connection to and appreciation for the University community, express appreciation for student leadership and contributions to the institution, and highlight student leadership excellence as an example to continuing students.
