Rural Reimagined invites all students to get involved with paid or academic credit hour internships through the Upper Cumberland Development District (UCDD) this semester. There are paid, college credit hour, service learning, or job shadowing internship positions ranging from 7-20 hours/week available including marketing, event planning, communications, data collection, finance, IT support, social media management, research, grant writing, and more.  TN Tech students in the past have had great experiences through UCDD internships, and Rural Reimagined encourages students from all majors and skill sets to get involved! Join esteemed speaker, Rasheed Ali Cromwell, Esq., for a virtual educational experience that dives deep into the lessons of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy, Monday, January 25 at 6 p.m.

The presenter employs an interactive and engaging approach, utilizing a multi-media platform that includes video clips, historical photos and virtual interactive activities, to provide a historical narrative, compelling examples and thought provoking dialogue that honors Dr. King’s legacy. The presentation celebrates this legacy and challenges participants to honor it with personal calls to action.

TN Tech’s Grand Challenge: Rural Reimagined offers several opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and the community to transform rural living through internships, coursework, research, and service learning. The initiative harnesses science, technology, innovation, and economic development to identify and solve rural-related challenges. Since March 2019, Rural Reimagined has made over 3,000 interactions throughout campus and the community. Russ Coughenour, Director of the Center for Career Development, will be breaking down the top-tier resume guide for soon to be graduates.

This event is open to all students in all majors and counts towards the Purple Career Readiness Certificate for junior and senior students. Bring your Eagle Card for a quick sign-in.

Join Center Stage, the Women’s Center and Project Awaken for “An Evening with Alex Jenny, the Drag Therapist” on Monday, February 1st at 6 P.M.! This event is free and open to everyone. Register for the event by 5 pm on February 1st here to get the Zoom information.

Alex Jenny is a Chicago-based trauma therapist and drag queen known as The Drag Therapist. She is a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in trauma recovery, identity development, gender affirming care, and changing our relationships to our younger selves. Her drag and art focuses on uplifting and celebrating trans people of color and more specifically trans women and trans feminine people of color. Most recently, she hosts a show called The Moment, part drag show, part talk show, that celebrates trans artists. She has been engaged in community organizing, activism, and social justice education for over a decade. We hope you will join us as we learn from Alex about her life, her work and her passions!
