One Billion Rising is the biggest global campaign to end violence against women. Tech community members will come together, rise up, and stand against sexual assault and gender-based violence in all its forms. Join Project AWAKEN, PEP and the Women’s Center for Tech’s Ninth Rising as we unite with activists worldwide in this effort.

This year, the event is adapted to be a week-long event that everyone can participate in from home! To participate, submit any form of artistic expression (such as a painting, drawing, poetry, or video) related to OBR, rising, healing, or support for survivors.

Need artistic ideas?  Stop by the table display in the RUC lobby for ideas, coloring pages, and “I’m Rising For” signs, participate with one of these, or create your own art piece. Submissions can be sent to awaken@tntech.edu by 2/13 (a picture of the submission is fine). ALL submissions win a prize!!

Friday Café is the hands-on learning experience for foods and nutrition students in Human Ecology. Menus are posted on Marketplace and on the Human Ecology Friday Café webpage. This spring semester students will utilize vegetables grown at Shipley Farm. Dates will be Feb 12, Feb 19, Apr 9, Apr 16 and Apr 23. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Friday Café will serve only five meals this semester. All meals will be a carryout option only. There will be three time pick-up options each week (11:45 am, 12:00 pm, and 12:15 pm) with a limit of 10 meals for each time slot. Meals will be available for pickup inside the front door of Oakley Hall. Meal purchase is made through Marketplace by making prepayment by noon on Wednesday. Meal cost will be $8. Contact the Human Ecology office at 372-3157 with any questions.

The Upper Cumberland Development District (UCDD), a partner of Rural Reimagined, is offering a variety of paid, college credit, service learning, or job shadowing internships this Spring. Available internship positions range from 7-20 hours/week and include the following responsibilities: Marketing, event planning, communications, data collection, finance, IT support, social media management, research, grant writing, and more. The UCDD has provided great experiential learning opportunities for TN Tech students in the past, and Rural Reimagined encourages students from all majors and skill sets to get involved! Mayhem Nation is recruiting enthusiastic, creative, and experienced student interns to assist in production within their fast moving and highly relevant media and marketing organization. Internship responsibilities would include the production of professional sports media, social content generation, live content capture and publication, and editing. Interested students must be fluent in Adobe Creative Suite and have experience with photo and video capture, editing, and graphic design. Rural Reimagined encourages all students interested in physical fitness and CrossFit to apply for this internship opportunity. Applications will require references and relevant work samples such as social media handles.
